opinions?

i have a question about spark plugs, why is it so important to use NGK and whatever the other brand of spark plug? i put in 3 of the 4 platinum +4 bosch spark plugs i bought a while ago
1. i hate gapping
2. to me they seem to work a lil better

also which is a better brand of air filter (for a short ram) AEM or injen? since my car is pretty much stuck where it is since i wont let anyone drive it take your time on answering lol.

Re: opinions?

if you dont like gapping, get denso iridiums which come pregapped. honda engines were designed around ngk and denso plugs. other brands simply will not work as well and can even cause more misfires. AEM dryflow synthetic paper is the best for filtration.

+1. Every other type of plug you're gonna have to gap. They may say don't adjust, but they're more than likely gonna be out of spec as those plugs are used across a variety of cars. And in all seriousness, gapping doesn't really take that long.

Re: opinions?

so that takes care of the air filter... replace K&N flat with a short ram ok

i know the spark plugs dont take long to gap, but i even looked it up and the ones that are in the car are for the car i never mix and match the spark plugs. i just dont see a problem using pregapped when that part number is for that car.

Re: opinions?

Go back and look at what I posted earlier. Those plugs can work in other cars within that heat range. Just because it says pregapped doesn't mean that they're set at your cars specs. I bought a pair of platinum plugs for my car. IIRC, my car calls for somewheres between .050 to .052". I bought the right plugs, but the gap was like .060". I'm just saying, be careful. It probably won't do any damage, but you'll be wasting voltage. I never bothered to gap my other plugs and compared to those ones I didn't gap, the ones I did offered a smoother running engine. Maybe that's just me, but I plan on going into the field, and I've developed OCD.
