Question More Newbie Questions

Ok, I've read through alot of posts and have some questions. I know they are dumb =X And if any of the questions I ask have indeed been answered before, just tell me so and I'll look harder =)
1. What exactly is a cat-back exhaust / axle-back exhaust and which gives better performance?
2. How does replacing headers improve performance?
3. In a few of the posts I read, there were some talk about pulleys. What are those for?
4. In the some posts, there were references to cam gears. What are those? (Anything to do with the camshaft?)
5. What is a "bomb" muffler?

Well, that's all I can think of right now. Again, if any of the questions have been asked before, I apologize. I hope you guys can help me out =)
Thanks =D

1. Cat-back is exactly what it says, it connects to your catalytic converter. Axle-back is basically a muffler is lamens (sp) terms.

2. Frees the exhaust flow but really, it is what's after the header that give the most horsepower. The downpipe is what will help the header with the extra flow of gases.

3. Pulleys are something I'm still looking into. As far as I know, you can get lighter pulleys which can minimize the work of the engine. But like I said, I don't know much about them.

The other will have to wait. Other people know more about those things and will help you for sure. Welcome to the board man

Couple more...

JumpingBean: Thanks for the quick reply and that link; it helped explain alot =D!
GideoN: Thanks for the quick reply as well and your info on the header

I have a few more...
6. CAI is Cold Air Intake right? What is SRI and what is the difference between the two?
7. On my 2003 Civic EX Coupe (Auto), is it worth however much it would cost to replace my stock headers?
8. Saying I do replace the headers, catback, install a CAI, that would make the engine run hotter, yes? Since that's the case, I would probably have to have my oil changed a bit sooner than every 10,000 miles, right?
9. This might be a bit off-topic, but I'm curious. At 10,000 miles, I took my Civic into a dealer to have its routine checkup. So afterwards (and $60+ out of my pocket =XXX), I get in my car and there's the lil reminder stick to come back at 13,148 miles. Now, the manual says I only need the oil changed every 10,000 miles. Did I read it wrong or is the manual lieing?

Thanks again for helping me out with my questions, I really appreciate it =)

Edit:
Would an auto shop put these parts on for me or are they easy enough that I could do it (no drilling holes in my baby )?

hey man as for the pulleys for power stering and ac they just under drive them to pick up just a few ponnies. getting crank pulley is much better around 5whp, and as for oil change is 10,000 is only under normal driving conditions, but as you are describing u want to make it faster car so do it at 3k or 5k

At the most, change it at 5,000 miles. Waiting longer will damage the engine much more than you really want. Especially if race around everywhere.
