Anyone know where i can find a cheap intake for LX Auto

Hey whats up. I have been looking for a cheap intake for my car, a 2002 automatic LX. I have found one for DX and EX autos, and every stick made. However, it is friggen impossible to find a cheapo intake for the LX Auto. Im sure some of you on the board probably have them. The car isn't a racecar, so theres no need for AEM or Injen. I'm on a budget, just want the nice intake sound and a couple HP to make the hamsters run faster.

I have checked ebay, but after asking sellers all of them said that the intakes didn't fit the LX auto. I did a search, but there werent any results, plus LX doesnt count as a search term so it screws up everything anyway. If you guys could link me to a decent cheap intake that would be great.

thanks

any short ram intake will fit LX auto.

only the InJen CAI will fit LX auto.

the sellers dont know what they're talking about.

check ebay for a cheap SRI... you wont get any hp gains though.

Im sure your *** is retarded. Lets look at my post really quick, that is if you can read:
"I did a search, but there werent any results, plus LX doesnt count as a search term so it screws up everything anyway. If you guys could link me to a decent cheap intake that would be great."

Plus, cheap intakes do give HP. Any time you can increase the airflow to the engine, there will be gains. Also, I stated that this car is not a racecar. The cheapo ones work just about as well as the branded ones. You pay for the name and carb legal certification. It only takes 5 minutes to swap intakes, and I only need to get smogged once every 2 or 3 years, and since i have a ULEV I believe i dont need to have it smogged for the first 5 years of ownership.

My boyfriend runs AEM CAI in spring/summer/fall, and a cheapo short ram he got for 30 bux when its extremely rainy, and theres like maybe 2hp difference. The generic short ram has an earlier power curve, and the AEM CAI feels weaker until midrange, and up into redline you can tell the difference.

I know about the differences in parts and equipment, my boyfriend has been modding cars his whole life, and he is moderator at hondasociety.com in 6th gen Accord forum, and has worked on imports, domestics, bikes, and lifted trucks. He also has been doing audio systems for people since before he could even drive. I have been with him 5 years, so quite a bit of car knowledge has rubbed off. He has worked for car dealers since he was 13, and also motorcycle dealers, and his dad was a mechanic.

I know the pros and cons, but the benefits of the cheap intake outweigh any cons. I am just trying to make my car not sound like its choking. It's not a show car, its not a race car, its reliable fuel efficient transportation at an affordable price. I laid out my preferances, and asked a simple question of availability of a part. If I wanted any input on my choice i would have asked for it. And as for saying, it doesn't add any horsepower, thats retarded. They add horsepower, but not quite as much as something that costs more than double. Thats called diminishing horsepower return per dollar. Besides, I dont plan on owning this car too long. Its a nice car, but I plan on upgrading as soon as financially possible.

if you know that much already, then you should know there are no difference between DX and LX.

again, any short ram for a 2001 civic will work on a LX auto.

since your bf is a moderator too, you should respect ours.

there's no need to call him an *** or retard when he asked you nicely to look for something thats been cover before.

if the LX key throws off the search, then dont use it.

anyway, no point arguging about hp and what not. I should have put no power gains intead of hp gains.. cuz I'm sure there may be some peak hp gain at the upper rpm with a SRI, but the lost in low end offsets it completely.

I generally dont see a SRI having more power earlier in the power curve.. especially in our application, but whatever...

check ebay again.

I typed in: "01 civic lx intake" and I found 7 intakes.

anyone ever notice that threads with "intake" in the topic sentence always seems to start a war?anyways here are some facts... on our cars CAI wont get you much HP gains but its better than a SRI cuz all they do is suck in warm air at a higher velocity which can bring performance down. both will give a deep sound. just a little something to think about before you make your purchase.

i give respect

but when someone tells me to do a search, when i have already stated that i have done a search to no avail, that would infer that the person made a response without even reading my post. I'm not a jackass, I tried a search for Cheap LX Auto Intake, and it poppped up LX being too short to be a search term.

Also, the civics all have had different engines in the past, and the trims have different engines for the HX, LX, DX, and EX. I was not aware of the DX/LX being the same engine format, and the seller that was selling the 46 dollar ebay intake, I called them last week and they said the EX/DX intake was incompatible, although I could not see why it wouldnt work.

But I wont treat someone with respect if they treat me like a child, its a two way street. I have been respectful until I was treated disrespectfully being talked down upon when i CLEARLY stated I had searched it. Not being a bitch, just returning the hospitality which i had recieved. Im sure you can understand.

hmm. I guess. I know its annoying for people to simply say "search" when you have searched already.

anyhow... I doubt he's offended or care much.

the DX/LX both have D17A1 engine...

the thing is, ALL 7th gen civic (except Si) has the same stock intake system.

its just it mounts differently when it comes to automatic and manual transmission... but any SRI will fit fine. CAI is another story.

some sellers just dont know what they're selling. bah.

Thanks, this is the good info i was fishing for. It is truly helpful. I thought the DX/LX were the same car but the LX had better standard equipment, while HX had super fuel efficient setup, with the EX getting the vtec for 10hp bump. Stupid sellers are a common problem. Thanks for clearing it up. Its frustrating when you ask a simple question and cant even get an answer. I'll look into a couple intakes now, thanks. At least some people are actually helpful.
