My future product list: what do u think
Ok this is the stuff I plan on getting for my engine - the price for everything is low because im findign the best deals and some of it is not expensive brand name parts: (also an aprox estimate)
complete catback exhaust/finishline black satin ceramic coating inside and out: $300.00
AEM Tru time pulleys (alternator pulley, powersteering pulley, belt) $141.76
AEM Cam gear $142.00
underdive crank pulley $ 60.00
Denzo Iridium Spark Plugs $ 45.00
lightened flywheel $289.00
Royal Purple Oil $ 25.00
Jet Chip ECU Mod $239.95
PORTED/POLISHED ported TB $200.00 <Forgot about this edited it in
COMES OUT TOO: $1,441.76
What do you guys think anyone have alot of this setup? Im expecting 15-30? hp gain...
mabye
Well i do have a question, with all this stuff bolted on is alot of wear and tear on the engine?
And if your asking WHY i would spend so much on my car when i could spend it on something else, cosider what people spend money on collecting STAMPS. Well this is my hobby it just costs more to fuel it

No offense, but you are not gonna get 40-50 hp out of just doing that. You will be lucky to get 10-15hp, if that. Sorry dude, the d17 isnt the best motor to respond to mods.[hr]

I have somewhat the same list and I ended up gaining about 15 hp to the wheels. But hell the performance is a lot better than stock. I am really happy with how the car runs now. I say go for it. The only way you're gonna gain more than like 15 hp is with a turbo or engine swap. I might do that later but for now I can live with my car. I dont regret one of the engine mods I've done.

i've heard that if you replace one, maybe more i dunno, of thoes pullys that your car does better "winding up", but it maxes out sooner. so when you get on the highway your car has to try real hard constantly. so i guess its good if you bascialy never drive on the highway anywhere, or if its a second car or somthing. maybe someone else knows what im talking about

I've accepted the fact that the common civic is not extremely fast. I would do the general i/h/e but $1,441.76 would go better towards kit, rims, audio, entertainment, etc. That's just IMO.

I have to post this its really good info that i asked DC5@EM2 about:

maybe also another 10hp or so, when you do mods, you really have to do alot to notice a big change. Its kinda hard to explain. Its like the more parts you do, the better off your performance will be. Its all consecutive. lets say that you get the following parts and they tell you the supposed hp gain you should see:
intake=8hp
header=6hp
exhaust=10hp
cams and cam gear=20hp
port and polish head=20hp
(i just picked numbers off the top of my mind for this deminstration)
now, mathmatically, you should of gotten a 64hp increase with that. but when you put it on a dyno, you only get maybe 15-20hp out of all that. Now there are many different reasons why you dont actually get that. Either not tuned out properly, your particular motor doesnt respond to mods that well, a slightly defective part that will still work but not properly, these are just some situations that i just took but there could be numerous amounts more that could happen. Basically, when you are reading the advertisement for a product, they tell you that for instance, this intake will give you a 10hp increase, but actually they are telling the truth but yet they arent. What they could do is take a dyno run on their stock car and put the worst kind of gas in it, restrict the car in different ways that they dont tell you, etc. (again numerous things they could do but cant think of them all) BUT when they bolt on their intake for instance, they might have the car tuned out so precise and working with the same type of car but has parts specifically designed for that particular part, thats where they get their 10hp gain on the dyno. Mostly, when buying car parts you have to have a basic knowledge of what a particular part can actually produce, and when you hear something that doesnt sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Thats probably the best advice i could give you. Sorry if I wasnt more clear on certain topics. Well, I hope this helps. Later.

like i kinda said before - i heard that teh underdrive pulley(?) will make you accelarate quickly, but then the engine is almost at redline, so imagine driving on the highway in 5th with the engine almost toped out. thats basicly the way it was explained to me. but yea, if you just want to "drag race" then i bet the pulley would be a good idea
While your at it on the head, you might as well get your cam re ground. All of that should give you somethingl.
I/H/E 8
Port/pollish 10
Cam re grind 5
Pullys 3
Cam Gear 3
Keep in mind that those numbers will probably be lower that what I estimated. But all of that should get you a decent amount. Maybe 25 or 30 AT THE BEST. Just do it and get it dynod and show all of us the numbers. Good luck

i have a tuner magazine which came out like 6 months after the 2001 civic came out and DC put intake, headers and cat back exhuast which only gave 5 more hp to teh civic. so i dont know if doing all those things to ur car will increase hp to 20 or more..

have everything done then take the car a professional tuner shop to have the cam gear tuned on a dyno...
then contact jet and go from there.
bolt on isnt:
intake = 5 hp
header = 5 hp
exhaust = 2 hp
intake + header + exhaust = 12 hp.
it doesn't work that way.
a cam gear isn't bolt on power.. its meant for tunning.
make sure jet knows u've tuned ur car and provide them with info of ur dyno and powercurve.. I'm sure that'll come in handy for them to program ur ecu.
didn't see a header in the list... u might as well get a better top section header...
dont know about 30 hp... but 15 whp is doable. maybe even 20 whp...
if you get an extra 15 whp across the powerband.. you'll definitely feel it.
and also, u might lose some top mph... probably 5-10 mph off.
