I was lookin for a set of pulleys and was wondering about some things i read...
This was a description of AEM pulleys from modacar.com

"The AEM Tru-Power Underdrive Pulley Kits are designed to replace the pulleys on both the alternator and power steering pump. AEM has chosen to underdrive the accessories via their pulleys as opposed to the <font color=white style="background-color: 3E3E3E;">crankshaft pulley because the vibration dampner incorporated into the crankshaft pulley is critical to engine life.</font ft> The Tru-Power Pulleys are CNC machined from billet 6061 T-6 aluminum and anodized in red, blue, or clear silver. The kits come complete with pulley(s) and belt(s) and a full set of instructions for ease of installation."

So... should i just nab the AEM set, and forget about the Unorthodox...
And, are they both 50 state legal and what not. Will they pass visual inspection...

Most people say the vibration damper problem doesn't exist. I thnk there are people on this site with Unorthodox installed.

As for inspection, I don't see how any pulley set would alter your emissions, and that would be the only legality involved.

You can either go to a ligher, larger diameter crank pulley or go to smaller driven pulleys like the AEM and get similar results. One would think that a lighter crank pulley would give some advanage in low end response.

I have the aem pulleys, they work great, I noticed a little better throttle response and a little pull in higher rpm's. I got mine from aie.com for about %125. That is the cheapest I have seen

I have unorthodox and I have no vibration problems at all, you will get better results from them aswell.

Now mix in a lighter flywheel and you will see the RPMs climb faster than they drop. The balancer prolongs the engine life. I expect our engines do not need it as much as an S2000 would. Our cars rev up to 6800 rpm, but the narrowing gap between cylinder head and cylinder wall does not help. You can be safe and have your engine balanced.

I have had both AEM pullies installed for some time now.. I first had the power steering pulley installed because it was easier to put on but finally put the alternator pulley on, even though I have a system with 3 amps but still didnt noticed any problems and now its been several months later... It might help because I have an optima battery and 2.0 farad cap. and 0 gauge power wire... I think they helped mostly at higher speeds, say accelerated from 60+.. If I pass someone and downshift to 3rd it takes off pretty nice. for the price and if you install them yourself, I say go for it... I just make sure you have an impact wrnech for the alternator pulley!
