I need opinion on best intake...
Since the AEM V2 has been available to buy, I am torn...I have been holding out on getting an intake this winter since i didn't feel like working on the car in the freezing cold. There are so many intakes on the market these days and so many mixed opinions. I just want some opinions about the best intakes for my car. 2002 EX.

I would just get a aem v1 for 200 max unless you have the money for a v2 which will give you 1+hp

I have had 3 intakes
1. Stock.
2 AEM type CAI
3. K & N FIPK II Part #57-3513
I noticed some change with the CAI, but when I switched to the
K & N intake, I noticed a lot more low end power and the
intake sound is more of a deeper growl. The AEM type withe the metal
piping tended to get hot from radiant heat in the engine bay.
The K & N does not get hot since it's piping is made of a thick plastic.
Also the intake is well guarded away from the engine bay with it's heat shield, and with it, you have no worries about injesting water.

You'll get the best performance out of....OEM!!!! Thats right....an intake does NOTHING. It may even lower your HP. Search next time.....
2. Lay off of the whole "search first ****" he is a noob. He probably doesn't know how to search. Maybe you could make yourself useful and explain to him how to search.
Oh and to answer your question noob, AEM CAI, Injen Race Division CAI, and the K&N FIPK2 are the best intakes out for our cars. It's kids like the one that posted this answer are the ones that you want to ignore.

Well you've waited this long so far, so you might as well wait until some dyno's come out for the V2. There should be dyno's coming out for all available applications in the next issue of Turbo. Those people that are saying that CAI do nothing are talking out of their a**. Its true you can buy a bad product that will in some cases actually lower horsepower. Those are the companies that think all a intake system is is some piping and a filter. Believe it or not there is actually a science behind intakes and the proper bends and diameter of piping makes all the difference in the world. AEM knows this science. AEM definitely makes the best product out there with the best gains. The AEM CAI showed gains of 8.9 hp at 6500 rpm (more than double of that of the K&N) on the dyno graph for your car. Mine (2002 LX) only had gains of 5.3. Its obvious that VTEC engines respond to intake systems a lot better than non-VTEC. So my advice is wait a bit and see what the V2 has to offer. Right now you can get the V2 on a group buy at groupbuycenter.com for $236 shipped. Only about $35 more than a AEM CAI V1 without the cost of shipping.
I got an AEM clone CAI, and replaced the crap filter that came with it with an injen. I also did some custom work to the piping and added a coat of heat insulator inside the pipe. After about an hour of freeway driving the pipe is still just a little warm to the touch.

Just get an intake for looks and sound only. If you have an auto, just stick with a short ram. If you have manual, go with the v2!

1. You need to get your head out of your ***! You will NOT get the best performance out of an OEM intake, it is way too restrictive!

just wondering, have there been any comparisons on the 1/4 mile on the stock airbox and aftermarket intakes?
i'm considering getting a k&n fipk, but it's hella expensive! gotta love the low growl though (chicks dig this haha!) can anyone recomend a cheap SRI which provides similar gains to an FIPK and the similar low growl?

I'm in the same boat I'm torn between the fipk II or the V2 .. I'm going to hold off to see how the V2 performs and decide from that. the only thing that makes me lean towards the fipk is the installation seems to be easier.. I also want to get the oem aero kit with the old oem rear to, oh plus a new hu and leather seats and some other **** ...
Get the kit first. You'll get more pleasure from a good looking kit than you will any old intake. Then you have time to decide about intakes. The first thing I got was tail lights and then the OEM kit. I'm still more proud of the kit than any other mods. (well the Altezza gril makes a big change in looks for low price too)
I think the FIPK is better for daily driving, the AEM V2 is more for performance only. I'm going to buy the K&N. I can get it for $215 shipped, and if people are interested, we can get a group buy going and get it even cheaper. If there are enough people interested, I will make it offical.
SO....FIPK for daily driving, V2 if you're for performance/looks.
Peace

You can get the V2 for $220 shipped. If you're not going to go for the V2 I would definitely go for the AEM CAI V1. Its a much better product and has better gains than the K&N and cheaper at the link below. Here's the link for the V2 at $220 shipped
AEM: SRI, CAI, V2 are all on this page for the lowest prices I have ever seen
