AIR INTAKES!
AIR INTAKES!
Alright I have been intake shopping for quite some time now and noticed from using the SEARCH button that most people sway towards whatever intake they own. I have been sure at one time that I was getting the aem cai, and I have been sure at one time that I was getting the K&N fipk intake. My question to you is, is there anyone out there that has either of these intakes and wish they would have gotten the other one, or even a different one????? if so which intake do you have and what intake do you wish you had?
ps. what makes the dc DAC intake so disregarded and terrible that nobody even acknowledges it?.....just curious

Cold air will get you more gains, than the K&N I am pretty sure, but then again it isn't smog legal in Cali. Sorry I don't have either but I would go for the AEM Cold Air. Good brand, and its cold air.
To our cars it doesn't really matter. All intakes are really for is looks or sound. 7th gens don't really get gains from any intake. I got the AEM (cai)becuase it was the cheapest one that I found. I got for 150. I would have got the Injen but that cost a little more and its basically the same.
Tell me what you don't like about yourself....

the whole piping gets a little hot to the touch.
I am thinking about getting K & N FPIK II since it is constructed of plastic and will not get as hot.
They are both 50 state legal and will pass smog for C.A.R.B.
DAC is so disregarded since DC sports is too expensive and customer relations are not on the good side at all.
Good luck.
I'm kinda looking into an intake as well, and so far I've heard this:
the CAI is better for 5-speeds, as far as gains, while the SRI offers more oomph for the autos. The AEM CAI is a really good choice, same as the Injen (pretty much). But for SRI's the FIPK is supposedly by far the bst choice. Although personally I think it looks really nasty, especially once you get it in the engine bay, although I haven't seen pics of that yet. So if anyone had pics of the K&N installed, post 'em! Thanks ...

man, some of you really bought into those brand loyalty deal...
I bet those guys at AEM and InJen are really happy.
IMO, aftermarket intakes are just pipes and filters... they're all the same. I think the honda guys put a lil more engineer into it... I stick with stock cuz I like my low end and I do city-driving quite often...
everyone seems to love the FIPK though, and I duno, I know K&N took some time into it, but you're still looking at one expensive thing for a few ponnies at who knows what rpm.

I have read posts from people who used to have an injen or AEM SRI and have replaced it with the K&N FIPK and love it. There have also been people who have had an AEM SRI and switched to an Injen CAI and love that. Now, I don't remember details so much anymore, but when I was looking to get an intake I beleive all of the stuff I had read made me decide on the K&N FIPK, but then I decided to save the money and just get a drop-in which I have been happy with... not really any gains though, except MAYBE on the highway. Anyways, I seem to remember though that the K&N FIPK was the best one for gains, even though it is more like an SRI. Hopefully somebody will back me up on this, otherwise I'm just wrong! Personally, I decided to save the money and put it into doing audio stuff instead of performance, because I'd getting more enjoyment out of the audio stuff then you do out of performance on a civic. I have the Injen CAI and I love it, yeah i may not have alot of power out of it but i like it. Just do what you want and dont worry about what people say, just like everyone saying its a pipe with a filter, the difference is the colors you can get with the different companys.

eh, revival aside.. did u cut up the heatshield, or did u add in the foam?
or did it came like that?
cuz mine certain doesn't look like that.. the heatshield portion anyway.
I'm guessing u did that cuz of the strut bar?

Get what you can afford and what you like you can always upgrade if you don't like it. I have a generic one and it seems to do the job. My next move is a custom intake, I had one on my prelude and it worked great.

Yeah thats b/c you can only put the cai on the 5 speed. You cant put it on an auto b/c the tranny gets in the way. Cai is def the way to go if you have a 5 speed...dont put a sri on a manual its just pointless...well not pointless but kinda a waste especially if you can go with the cai. If you have a auto sri is the only way to go, but dont expect much besides looks and sounds.
