Desi, does this help at all?
5-speed:

Automatic:

The header fits a lot better on the auto than the 5-speed since you dont need to do as much shaving..... Its also a little tighet fit in the auto, but it works out just fine

whosyourdaddy, thanks a lot man. that helps alot. i just wanted to see the motor mount on the left side of the header and the alt heat shield. there doesn't that much of a difference, just a little.
Old thread, but just an update...I just installed the 4-1 race w/high flo cat on an 01' ex coupe. Install took 2hrs with air tools and there is no need to shave the motor mount. I used a drop chain to anchor the engine (next to the altenator just under the head) and removed the whole motor mount. Header went in with no other disturbances and the mount went right back in. This is much much better than shaving half of the mount off and sacrificing 1. warranty, 2. integrity of the mount. So if you have the means to pull the mount, it's worth the extra 10 minutes.
Just an FYI.
P.S Very nice gains, especially on high end. No noticable loss in low end torque.
Friday: APEXi N1 catback...

Can the DC Header be installed into the LX Coupe? Are any modifications required to accomplish this, ie a pro cat? Also, can you turn off the check engine light by disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes? I know you can do this with other modifications that you install so as to reset the computer. Of course if you totally skew the cat returns, I suppose you can't reset the computer to mollify that. Where did you guys obtain this HP header? I did a search for it online and I can't find it. Well, I live in New Hampshire, so maybe I will get it. We have like absolutely no emissions testing whatsoever. Your supposed to have a cat if you have a car above 1980, but thats about it. Thanx for any help guys. -Mark

quick question, how does it affect the sound. Does it make it sound more ricey. Personally I like the deep sound my exhaust has and dont want it to sound too ricey.

Yea, im getting this setup as well, and am hoping it will give my exaust a bit more strength for lack of a better word. Ive got a Skunk2 Mega-Power full cat-back, and it sounds nice, but it just seems like its too weak sounding. I dont really know how to describe it, just sounds like it being restricted. Hopefully this will fix it.
i installed my hp racing header tonight and i did NOT need to shave my motor mount. i have a lx 5-spd.
however it does rattle against the part of the motor mount that connects to the frame (the black part) so i will probably cut that a little tomorrow. but that part of the DIY with the hacksaw and shaving off the silver part of the mount in order to get the header in wasnt necessary.

wsup peepz, my brother PaCiFiKbAllA has an 01' Ex Coupe and iz gonna get the Hp Race Header soon...he already has the Apexi N1 Catback (after a long wait) and he is gonna take his car to a dyno shop in Sacramento and get it dynoed (Motorsport Dynamics). I know he can't wait to hear the loudness of the N1 wit the header and high flow cat...the dc sports shorty he got was a waste of money i wouldn't recommend anyone gettin' the dc shorty header...it sucks azz...anyways just hollerin' at yall...any questions about the N1 or for PaCiFiKbAllA pm him...latez!
Awesome DIY man! I will be getting a car soon(yes, im only 14, not even legal to drive. Im going to be getting a 92-99 civic coupe or hatch, i plan on puttin a sri on it, new exhaust, header, new wheels(nothing above 16), and a few other things, no rice though! ANyway, thanks for the diy man, ill be lookin at it alot.
xblkcivicx,
where exactly did you get your header w/ high flow cat? how much?
When people talk about cutting the motor mount, is it just to allow easy installation? Is there contact with the mount when the header is installed and the engine's running?
Thank you,
Terry

From the look of those pics it just looks like you need to cut the motor mount for installation. One of the guys on this post said he got like a cherry picker and removed that engine mount while the cherry picker was holding the engine in place, then he installed the header and replaced the engine mount after the install was done. I have no idea though, i would just rather cut some off of the motor mount than remove the mount and then reinstall it though.

I just read the first page... so BLAH.. i don't care what the rest of you said.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO SHAVE OR CUT **** ON 03'S.. I don't know if it's different on 01's and 02's but i just got done putting mine on and i didn't shave or cut a damn thing.
I have two-three inches clearance from the motor mount.... so, if my header hits my mount.. there's a problem.
I pulled the mount, threw it up there....... snapped a bolt......and tried to pull that bolt out until my hands bled..... now here i am.. bleeding hands and a header on a car that i can't drive. WEEEEEEEEEEE
But as i said before, I didn't cut ****.
If you want a picture, tell me and i'll take one.
