'02 Civic Performance Questions...

I have a '02 Civic LX and wanted to put an exhaust, intake and headers. I am looking at the most performance i can get out of any product(brand). So please help me. If u can give me the HP gain on each part i would apreciate it a lot. Oh...and I actually searched the forum for info, but got even more confused...

I'm not gonna bust your nuts on searching just get ready for it..As far as your performance questions...Are engines are so restrictive in their tuning that these parts all together will get you about 5hp at the wheels...Not worth the coin if you ask me

P.S that 5hp at the wheels would be using DC stuff which you don't get much better

aite heres the deal....are cars are economy car...so u have to understand the fact that are cars are slow...if it was fast car...greddy, jackson racing, and all of the other top of the line companies would have came up with a turbocharger or supercharger by now...however because of our new fuel system its harder to get the most potential out of our cars unlike the other generation civics who respond well to aftermarket parts...the only way that we can get our car to be fast as of now would be to use nitrous, a k20a2 swamp if u got 10Gs to waste, or a custom turbo for bout 3-4gs...as far as intake, header, and exhaust wise...ur probablly lookin at a max of 5-8

With all the 6-speed transmissions and 200+ hp cars coming out these days, we might as well just go straight for looks

who says he wants to race?

if you dont care about emission, or theres no such thing at ur state or what not...

the stock intake system IMO is fine. I haven't try the K&N FIPK but I heard there's some decent gains for that. But its also like 200 bucks for a pipe, filter, and plastic (or some sort) heatshield. I feel silly paying 200 for that.

I'll look into kamikaze whatever header for the LX. it replaces ur stock upper section header, the cat. convertor.. and ur downpipe...

swapping out those parts should give u good gains. an exahust system might compliment that nicely, but wont do much more for its price (ie you may gain an addition 1-2 hp and maybe hopefully the powercurve goes up) but spending 300-500 for those 1-2 hp doesnt seem justified.

however the kaikaze full header for the LX seems like the best hp - money ratio.

Ok, so basically can anyone tell me what parts are best(HP)...i know very well that our cars aren't fast or anything, but if u got some show and no go, well...that is just stupid. Why would anyone get exhaust and intake and headers...just for show, I don't think so. Plus we need the increse in HP no matter what the car is for.

The best and only way to make your car fast dude, is to race an American made economy car. End of story, go for looks, it will get you a lot further.

If that's the way you want to be about it just go SEARCH.

There's threads here with info and experience on just about anything that's available. You have to do the research and decide what's bests gor you. The you have to put the stuff on your car and decide if that's it or you need something else. All those people on all those threads for the last year or so aren't going to come over to this thread, just to save you the effort of doing your own research.

unfortunately I think lots of threads are deleted. not sure.

I duno the price on it.. search for kamikaze.. can't spell it right.. not sure if thats the way you spell it..

but seeing as how restrictive the LX/DX/HX exhaust systems are, you may be able to gain a good 5-10 wheel horsepower outta that swap.

the gains are mostly from the fact that its a 4-1 design, and it gets rid of the restrictive cat convertor.

I think er.. hondasports01 has it. he saw good gains on that I think.

Right now, the bolt on parts individually don't offer much. However, every little bit counts, and eventually the mods start to add up. Internals will probably be available soon. Here's some mods to consider:

1. Cold Air Intake - Most people would recommend Injen or AEM (my personal preference is Injen).
2. Exhaust - This is entirely up to you. Gains are similar - popular ones - DC TCS, Magnaflow, Skunk2, etc.
3. Header - Kamikaze (LX/DX) or HP - with the Kamikaze you lose the cat, with the HP you get a high flow cat
4. Pulley Kit - AEM (two pullies) or Unorthodox (same two as AEM plus the crank pulley)
5. Sparkplugs - Denso Iridium (haven't read anything but good things about these)

That's just to name a few to get you started. I would say that I had the most noticeable gain in power from the Kamikaze header - definately worth the money. Check out the parts section of this site. There's a few other mods to consider, which not many people have like Plasma Booster, Venom 400, Apexi S-AFC, etc. Also, depending on how much you want to spend, you have options such as a custom turbo. I also read a post earlier that mentioned Crower is working on internals for our engine, which is good news.

Just keep adding the mods up because every little bit helps.

Becuase the k20a2 dosen't have to same fuel system or anything?

EDIT: Just be glad I didn't start talking about how the average literacy rate of these forums dropped after your post. ('Our' and 'are' are different words, also the word 'a' is helpful in sentences like "if it was a fast car.")

And seriouslly, all Civic's are economy cars, but that didn't stop the previous generations from becoming so popular based on the number of available modifications. I think you're just not giving the D-series enough time, the B16 had damn near 0 upgrade options of several years after it came out, and I doubt you can deny that as being the most commonlly swapped series of engines. Learn from what you read in publications, not from the opinions of people you've never met in a forum.
