Cold air intake ? for a newbie
I have a 2002 Honda Civic EX thats automatic transmission. If i wanted to get a cold air intake system, which would be a good one to put on that is relatively easy to do. I also wanted to know if i would notice a difference in acceleration and sound? as much info as possible would be a great help! thanks alot.

I just ordered an Injen for my 02 EX (MT). It's just a better design than the AEM CAI (I don't know if they make it for an Auto). Putting the intake into the fenderwell will pull the coldest air possible into the engine. You have to take off the bumper, but it doesn't look hard, just a bunch of screws on the bottom (theres a DIY for it).
Hey - Congrats on everything! I just got a 2002 EX (5spd) myself. I think either aem or injen seems to be your best bet. On the injen site (link below) the only 2k2 models are for the Si, but i think the CAI's for the 2k1 EX's should be the same. Unfortunately, Injen doesn't post the dyno tests for the EX, just the Si. However, AEM does. Also, AEM uses K&N filters, Injen makes their own and says they're better than "the leading competitors" -probably true.
Best of luck, and remember, you really won't feel too much of a difference until you swap out your exhaust system too. BREATHE BABY

Injen has a comparison Dyno test... Stock vs. AEM vs. Injen at the bottom of this page. It says 2002 SI, but the part number (RD1566) is the Race Division CAI for 2001+ M/T Civics. The top of the dyno charts says Civic EX. I ordered my Injen from www.ptuning.com this morning for $189.95 shipping included (you get a 5% discount for being a member of this site). You need tools and a jack, so you'll have to go to Sears or something for that. But those costs are not directly related to the intake. I plan on installing it myself, so I have no idea what an install would cost.
