What brand of exhaust is the best quality?
What brand of exhaust is the best quality?
I plan on keeping my car a long time, 10+ years, so I'm looking an aftermarket exhaust that's the most long lasting, since the performance difference is like 1-2Hp between them. I read a site I think it was carreveiw.com or something like that where a guy had a greddy system that rusted out after two years. I don't want to pay $500 for something like that, but now I see since 2001 Greddy gives a 3 year warrenty on their stuff. So far it looks like DC TCS for me, what do you guys think? Perhaps someone with past experience can help.
P.S. go ahead and flame me if this has been brought up before. I've been reading exhaust forms on this site for a long time and see only things how they fit, how loud their are, and the HP gained.

Yea, I got a DC TCS and I love it. Although contrary to what ive heard, its definitely not the "quietest" setup available for catback exhaust, but its definitely the most "aggressive" sounding setup ive heard yet for the 2001 civics. Once i pass a break-in period on teh exhaust and decide that its settled into its final sound, ill post soundbytes on my web page. Besides, there must be a reason that Honda promotes the sale of DC parts at their dealerships. Another strong selling point. My dealer says that since they sell DC parts that they will look past the fact that i have an aftermarket exhaust altogether if i have problems with my car. I work for a company that builds large scale wastewater treratment equipment, and let me tell anyone reading this, if your not going to get a full stainless kit, the next best way to keep bare metal from breaking down is to locate a tooling shop that can do electronic or hot dip galvanizing of the metal. This will protect it from ANY and ALL corrosive elements the weather can throw at an exhaust over the seasons. Otherwise another good idea if you want a cheaper exhaust system to last "years and years" is to epoxy enamel paint teh outer surfaces of all bare metal after having a shop grit or sand blast it to a white finish. (They will know what you mean). However both the galvanizing and painting add overall weight to your exhaust system and act as a heat buffer keeping the hot air in the same way a powder coated intake is supposed to keep the heat out. Whether this is a benefit to you or not depends on teh way you drive your car, but thats a whole different thread.
Just a quick one but I thought the Tanabe Racing Medalion had only a stainless steel muffler and ceramic coated piping. I was just at the site. Someoen correct me please if I am wrong.

I hope that's not true about rusting out, I'm hoping to get the Greddy EVO soon, my neighbor has it on his Integra and it sounds pretty good.
