Building the fun honda?

D17A2
2001 Honda civic HX
Manual trans
3" exhaust
Cold air intake

Okay so I am new to the forum but I certainly hope I can contribute to anybody who needs my help.
This is my deal: I have never worked on import cars a day in my ife. I have been a mechanic or some kind of assemblance of one since I was aroung 16. I know very little about hondas but lots about eletrical and mechanical stuff.

Heres the quesiton: I have a D17A2 engine which means nothing to me. I want to know if tis worth making a fast little honda or should I not waste my time with it and go with the B16 type that I hear all honda guys are in love with. I dont understand the difference and most people are rather vague about the difference. So if you anything on why or why not, or even the difference between the engines let me know. If it takes basic mechanic stuff like rip the engine apart and replace parts to make it the same I can do that as well. Just shed some light on how I should go about this awesome project or making a fun toy. Thanks guys

Re: Building the fun honda?

Nobody usually bothers to build the d17. Never heard of a b16 swap on an 7th gen...the common swap for our cars is the k20. If you can get your hands on a K20A from japan you will have yourself a very fun honda lol
