K&n air intake

Hello, I'm planning to get an intake for my Civic 03 lx, but I'm not sure what to get or what would give a better performance to my car. I'm looking at a k&n 57-3513 fuel injection performance kit gen2 air intake kit or the k&n 69-1008tb typhoon air intake kit short ram. If there is a better choice you knw ur suggestion would help.
Thanx

Re: K&n air intake

The fipk has tested better than any other intake on D17s, it's plastic design helps to reduce heat absorbtion and keeps the air entering the engine much cooler. A member gained 4.63hp off one years ago.

You'd be better off buying a cheap ebay intake, putting a good filter on it and using the money you save on the intake to buy a stage 1 cam though. That would give your total hp gain of 20-30hp for maybe $100 more than you would spend on a name brand intake alone.

Re: K&n air intake

I didn't notice that you had an LX befote, you won't be able to run a stage 1.

If you want to learn more about intakes use the site search, this topic has been beaten to death. The Fipk is the best, the k&n typhoon or the AEM V2 are the second best, any cold air intake is the worst, but overall intakes make your car louder and not much else.

Re: K&n air intake

Ok let me give you some point of views regarding your concern. You may consider both unit. because both are definitely good in performance.
Let start with your first choice

k&n 57-3513 fuel injection performance kit gen2 air intake kit

This one could give better performance but it consume more gas
__________________________________________________ ___

k&n 69-1008tb typhoon air intake kit short ram

This one would give slightly less performance than the first item, but this is gas mileage friendly and likely cheaper in cost.

Well as I said both can be consider. It's is based only in your own preference.
Good Luck!

Speaking of the K&N typhoon. Has anyone had problems with the hood hitting it? No matter how i adjust it or push the tube down it still hits.

Re: K&n air intake

I don't know where the hell you get the idea that you will get any kind of performance gains from an intake because you wont... If you do happen to get a K&N your wasting your money because their filter isnt nearly as good as the AEM dryflow. This has been beaten to death as mentioned above. SEARCH The best advice so far is from MindBomber... I think most intakes come in contact with the hood depending on how hard you close it. (on 7th gens anyway)

Re: K&n air intake

I kinda have the same problem ... but I don't really care about performance, I only want that my EM2 has a very loud intake sound ... a bit like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbZg8QBJaMM

So, does someone here made any soundclip of his/her intake (on a EM2) ... so I can listen to the sound?

Re: K&n air intake

If you really, really need to have a name-brand under the hood, you're better off with the Typhoon. Otherwise I would suggest that you go with an eBay pipe (pipe is a pipe is a pipe) and top it with a good filter.

Put a Typhoon in a friend's 04 Civic. Not much difference, a little gain gas-wise, which was what he was shooting for. Don't expect any significant gains on our engines by doing any exhaust work.

Cheapest intakes that still provide some umph and not break the bank.

YES! i had this same exact problem. i cut about .75 inch off the bottom of the intake where it connects to the throttle body. it still hits the hood a little but at least i can get it closed now without bending anything.

Best $45 I ever spent. And this is only half the kit, I chose to keep it a SRI rather than a CAI.
