Header or Hollowed Factory Manifold

I have a 2005 Civic LX. This model is the 1.7L SOHC (no VTEC) and therefore has the catalytic convertor as part of the exhaust manifold. I have a complete Vibrant Performance catback system on order for the EX/Canadian Si model (with VTEC) but have ordered the Tanabe adapter pipe for this mount up with the LX exhaust manifold. Basically, I am looking for input on whether you guys think I should order the OBX header off eBay for $195 shipped or take a factory LX manifold and hollow the insides out of the cat. I can get a factory manifold for free but if the header will offer better performance, I would obviously do that instead. Anyone who has any input, I would really appreciate it.

first i wouldnt hollow the inside of the lx manifold. i think thats breaking an epa law or two. if you get a header, youll need the ex midpipe which contains a cat as well as two o2 sensor bungs, the catback pipe, and the axel back pipe. no doubt the header will offer more performance. im assuming the tanabe adapter pipe will take place of what wouldve been the ex midpipe. if you have the catback and midpipe, sounds like all your missing is a header.
