Yeah, I remember more than a year ago this guy installed the GUDE package on his 7thgen. He said that the results sucked, that he could barely feel any difference at all, and that it was a waste of money. Since then, I haven't heard anything about GUDE. Maybe they improved their products and are back on the market. Thats just my $.02

OMG Have you even looked inside a nascar automobile? those things are light as hell and stripped to the bone man. You are seriously mistaken that they weigh a lot. They even have painted healights
GJ on your research my friends works at a track where they clean those cars. Those are some big giants but they do not weigh that much, I guarantee that over 400-500 will bring it up to 200 mph area, probably lighter than our civics.

I don't think so man. No way 400 HP is gonna take a car that size to 200 MPH.
And I seriously doubt those cars are losing half their horses from the flywheel to the rear wheels.

I'm not sure that they are lighter than our civics but somewhat to the accords, I'm just making a point they do not weigh that much, and they are super easy to push, so I'm guessing its light

The engine in today's NASCAR racecars produce upward of 750 horsepower, and they do it without turbochargers, superchargers or particularly exotic components. So how do they make all that power?
Here are some of the factors:
The displacement is large -- 358 cubic inches (5.87 liters). Not many cars have engines this big, but the ones that do usually generate well over 300 horsepower.
The NASCAR engines have extremely radical cam profiles, which open the intake valves much earlier and keep them open longer than street cars. This allows more air to be packed into the cylinders, especially at high speeds (see How Camshafts Work for more details).
The intake and exhaust are tuned and tested to provide a boost at certain engine speeds. They are also designed to have very low restriction, and there are no mufflers or catalytic converters to slow the exhaust down either.
They have carburetors that can let in huge volumes of air and fuel -- no fuel injectors on these engines.
They have high intensity programmable ignition systems so the spark timing can be customized to provide the most possible power.
All of the subsystems like coolant pumps, oil pumps, steering pumps and alternators are designed to run at sustained high speeds and temperatures.

let this corpse rot where it belongs, until someone has something new to say about the freakin gude package. I don't want to sound like an a$$hole but, take the nascar discussion to gen auto ramblings or something.

OTOH, it appears there are two choices.
1. A noob can start a new thread and you can bish about it.
2. A noob can resurrect an old thread and you can bish about it.
The solution.
Once you see that thread title, just don't click on it.
BTW i have the gude cam & it is impressive.
The ported intake manifold doesn't work, as our intake manifold is plastic & can't be ported.
The way the deal works is you pay full price & they send you a head (or individual components) from another source. Then you send them your stock bits for the refund of the stock bits.

Have you run your car in the 1/4? Im curious to see what you run it at.
