K&N Filter Recharge Kit

So I'm trying to recharge my AEM filter but every time I go to oil it the son-of-a-bitch keeps on having excess oil on it after even more than a day of drying. I've had to re-clean it twice now and I'm waiting to oil it a third time but not before I get some tips on how to not spray too much. I get my CAI intake tube back from powdercoating today and I want to install it ASAP.

I tried following the directions with the multiple light coats the first time and then even did just one light coat the second. I don't think I was holding the can to close cause it was about 10-12" away. Any tips? What would happen if I didn't use enough oil?

all you'll need is one light coat. just enough to turn the filter a LIGHT red color.

oh man...these are always the stories i hear from people about oil baths...my autotech professor was always like you only need a light spray with spray bottle but he recommended the drip oil...he said just put a dot in a few places (not too much) and let it sit until it soaks through the whole thing

Not to ***** the thread, I just hope this question can contribute to it: You only oil ONE side right? The side where outside air is coming in?

Yea. Only the outside of the filter.

Thanks everyone. I tried to search but couldn't find anything useful but now I saw a couple in the "similar threads" area below.
