dose anyone know how much the stock hood and trunk waigh?? i was just wondering if it was worth it to get a c/f one for more then just looks?

the differance in weight between a vis hood and your stock are about the same. so its not worth anything more then just a look.

Are you kidding me? Have you ever propped a CF hood up in the wind? Your stock hood dosen't blow around LOL. I'd say you'd probably save like 25 pounds from the hood and trunk.

BTW i do have a carbon fiber hood and its the cheap one thats like one layer of fiber and its really not gonna give you some spectacular weight loss yeilding a faster car. Trust me i gutted the whole car inside tore out and no power steering or ac or cruise controll. with all that **** out my car lost about 100 - 150 lbs and really its not that big of a differance because this vic and its 100 whp are slow. Only nitrous turbo or swap will make this car fast.

True. Every little bit does help. I just wish the d17 heart was a little more tuner friendly. It seems that any motor but this one gives you a noticable differance when you tinker with it. whether that be by putting it on a diet or buying a full exhaust and intake.

Yeah i saw that thread. Im wanting to turbo my car rather than build it NA. Im waiting for dezod to bring the budget boost kit to the table. Hopefully they have it soon because im ready to just piece my own kit together.

the stock hood is around 35 or so pounds, a CF hood is around 15 pounds~

yes back to the point. Now a carbon fiber hood is gonna weigh differant each manufacturer. A good name like VIS or SEIBON dont really weigh that much less than OE, maybe 10 lbs less. But a cheap no name brand carbon fiber hood "like mine" weighs literally next to nothing. now the problem with my hood is i wouldnt use it at all without hood pins. It shakes in the wind and honestly i feel a bit unsafe using it at high speeds. But i have what i have.

marineman5454: Basicly you will loose around 40 - 50 ? maybe more pounds by changing from a stock hood and trunk to a CF hood and trunk in total. less weight = better MPG =P. CF also looks pretty.

So its up to you if its worth it =P

fiber images hood is 16.1 lbs
