how is this possible with intake?
Supposedly a stock neon srt4 gained 16whp and 30 wtq from just an intake. They tested the weapon-R secret intake on the dyno with a vid and everything. I know the car is turbo but all that gain from one intake is crazy.

and its not just at a single rpm

When shops/companies dyno a aftermarket part to prove its worthiness, do you think they test the stock power using a brand new clean OEM filter?
I have this feeling its sort of unfair being that the aftermarket intake is tested with a new filter and we don't know the condition of the stock filter.
Or am I wrong?

^^^ Its possible, but a turbo will suck in as much air as you can throw at it. The SRT4 intake is an airbox with a cylindrical filter in it, but its got a 2" outlet hose to the turbo.
I installed a K&N typhoon on my friends, it converts the intake to 2.5" with a 2" reducer to the turbo + a bigger filter. More air into the turbo means more power out. Turbos hate restriction, so I could see a gain like that.

on our cars, AEM intakes sucks biggo cow *****. i got AEM short ram intake and i felt zero performance gains. ( according to my butt dyno.) i still want to try out the k&n typhoon. since now gearbox is saying he got the secret weapon R intake i kinda wanna try that out too. but yea...then again intake is an intake...

they're not all the same. i say for performance, the weapon-r and typhoon are very close. aem sri and the fipk aren't that great. I think on the weapon-r the filter makes the intake, and it sounds alot less ricey than anything I've tried. Thats what makes me wanna keep it. the other intakes just got too annoying for me and i always put the stock back on.

manufacturers will make parts according to what they think would be the best flowing intake as well as the best fit ... the power gains in the end are up to the engine

Bah! want to know how a company can show such a high improvement?
Easy.
1. Simply Dyno a given car stock... after a few pulls, take the one with the lowest #'s and use it as your "base".
2. add your companys "performance" part. Dyno the car again and this time Take the one pull that shows the Highest gains...
3. present these dynographs as "facts" on how much your performance part improves the cars performance....

well they showed a vid of the run with the intake installed and even the monitor shot as the dyno was graphing. even if they took the lowest stock number, 30 wtq across the rpm band is a huge difference.
