All its going to be is "I have this so you should get it too", because thats what all of these threads turn into.
The fact of the matter is if you want damn good parts, take it to a fab shop with a dyno, give em the car and leave a blank check on the desk.
Good, well tuned headers cost about $1000, not 250. For 250 you get a couple of bent pipes that go from point A to B and do it in a matter thats smoother that the cast thing that honda threw together.
Anyways, its all for not, no matter what you do, you'll probably get 3 HP. With good work, maybe 7. The head flow sucks.

yeah you can do a hp header, a dc 4-1 header, a dc4-2-1 race header, there are so many intakes to choose from but i have heard the best results are comming form the weapon r intake. as far as exhaust there are also tons of differnt manufacturers i have the greddy evo2 and lov eit others i ahve heard that sound good that give power and arent too loud are the hks high power the Hayame and the RS*r mag. i think the RS*r mag is probably the quietest but still gives power. and withthe header cart pipe and intake you can see about 10whp which isnt bad at all. that is a bout a 10% increase in power with out head work. you will find a lot of people here that will say there is no use in modding this car but they dont get the big picture. when you start low with hp figures then your gains arent as high as a motor that has double the hp IE:200whp 10% increase 20whp 100whp 10% increase 10whp. so the gains arent that bad at all

as i stated before people will have different opinions but they dont see the whole picture. i have seen plenty of SOHC d series motors run in the 11's and 12's. if you build a motor correctly you can gain a good amount of power. this SOHC motor isnt as bad as people think. compared to the motors the people want to swap the % or increase isnt bad at all. as i stated before you can do an intake, exhaust, header, and cat pipe and gain about 10whp. that is about the same increase a k series gets out of the same mods. it just starts with a higher base. i wish you could weed out all the posts like above only becasue they dont answer your questions all these people are doing is stating their opinion which isnt the answer your looking for. true people have the right to state what they want but you shouldnt post an answer unless its relevant to the subject. which these answers are not. i am going to be one of the first to shut some people up with my build. if i can run with a rsx after my mods ill be happy because i will have spent much less than a swap would cost. people mod d16s all the time this motor actually respond a bit better than a d16 as well.
Intake: Injen or K&N intake, AEm is crap in my opinion
Headers: dont get DC sports, they do a very crappy job of making parts that fit perfectly i think, i dont know who else makes good headers cuz i dont plan on getting headers myself, so haven't researched into it too much
Exhaust: Dont get Megan anything i think they suck too, things cost the way they do for a reason, if it's cheap, it's probably very poorly made, if you want, go check out the TANABE USA website, they have LOTS of information on how they manufacture their parts and what they use and what kind of certifications they have for their products and what not, and in my opinion, Tanabe is one of the higher quality automotive parts companies i've seen so far.
As far as Pulley's go though I dont know too much, i've heard Unorthodox pulleys are supposed to be good but meh.. dont trust me on this one cuz i dont plan on getting a pulley for my civic. oh yea, i think people said it was good, but if you mess up installing it or something you can screw up your engine, and because this one supposedly doesnt have a harmonic balancer or whatever it's called
but yea like boilermaker said, the most you'll ever get in bolt on gains for our cars is probably 3 to 4 HP MAX without bost or a swap. or instead of getting all this crud and wasting money on parts and labor, save yourself the trouble by investing and saving up for a better car

Hey never said SOHC have no potential =P Im building my SOHC engine a little myself, Untill i get my b16a built heh. B16a DOHC has 160hp/ a built D17 built is 160? You can get a B16a for almost the same price as a good cat back exhaust.

IMO after over 4 years of seeing every product imaginable here, get any brand you want with minimal emphasis on price. the difference on power will be really unnoticable in most cases. example, a dc shorty header, megan 4-1, some ebay top header deal are all different, however the more expensive one may not give you the most power. it comes down to value, just get the part you like and what you want / can spend. the best thing to do is buy used and in decent to good condition, i think, cause you're prolly going to use it for a lil while and change your mind anyways.
I - Injen CAI
H - DC Race Header
E - RSR EX-Mag or Skunk2 (maybe)
P - Unorthodox
tanabe's exhausts are not that great. I have owned the SRM and it sucks ... it's loud, heavy, and has a bottle neck by the cat on the pipe.

Greddy Evo2 is also good. JDM VERSION ONLY though ... not the "US Spec" version. (there IS a difference)
