Custom Piping.

I was reading the "Rate your exhaust" topic when I came across this part of an entry:

"Tanabe Tuner Racing/custom piping 2.25"

What does this "custom piping" mean exactly? If anyone can explain the whole process in great detail, that'll be awesome.

Thanks!

custom piping is basically piping made by an exhaust shop. Usually someone will go to an exhaust shop and want their original stock piping replaced with 2,3 or 4 inch piping from the cat to the muffler. They will then cut off the original piping and weld new piping in its place. That is custom piping.

how serious are the gains from a stock piping with a muffler as compared to custom piping and muffler?
