Cone filters

How come some Cone filters are closed off at the top with plastic or whatever, and other are open.. specifically K&N filters.. some of their filters are closed and some are open at the top.. Wouldnt the open ones allow more air flow?

Ive decided to get a cheap SRI and get a K&N cone filter to add to it, but im not sure why some are open and some not.

yup more airflow. Help create a velocity stack to move air in quicker. K&N actually sells the xtream tip only for some of its filters. They come stock with any typhoon intake.

I might try to turn it into a CAI eventually, get some metal piping, some rubber and a few metal clamps and add onto the SRI to turn it into a CAI.. do you think this can be done? PIcs anyone who did it? I just did not want to buy a v2 which is basically a SRI, and as for CAI, they only make one CAI for autos and its close to 300 bills which i dont have right now. Comments? or pics if anyone turned a SRI into a CAI with METAL PIPING HEH . (NOT PVC PIPE)

haha.... you think b/c the V2 is a SRI it's bad??? V2 and FIPK are 2 of the top intakes for the Civic, and they are both SRI.

no i defintiely dont think its bad, all im saying is, i can get a 25 dollar SRI intake and a k&n filter for another 20 bucks.. SO whats the point in spending 200+ dollars on a v2. u know what im saying? Also im thinking about getting some metal piping, some rubber and clamps and make a cai out of it. (like i said before) ANYONE HAVE PICS OF A MODIFIED SRI INTO A CAI USING METAL PIPING.. POST PLEASE

Yea I Would Get One Of Those, But Dont Have The Money Right Now. A Cheap Ebay One With A K&n Filter Will Do. And I Might Make A Ram Air With Some Gutter Piping So It Doesnt Take In To Much Hot Air. Ive Been Searching Hehe
