Random Technology Cat
I just installed my new cat from Random Technology the other day and ran into a problem. The cat also includes the downpipe (b-pipe so says honda) welded to the cat just like the stock one. The problem is that the cat was designed to work with a stock cat back exhaust. When it is bolted on with an aftermarket cat back with larger diameter piping, it causes the midpipe to come in contact with the undercarriage. Big problem. It makes the loudest racket I've every heard. I'm yet to figure out how to fix it short of stuffing something heat resistant in between the midpipe and the undercarriage. Just thought people considering the cat should know.

no u got the right one. its just could have been designed better.
this isnt like most random tech cat convertors.. this one is designed to fit our civics (ex, vtec, d17a2 models)
since our cat convertor is welded onto the stock downpipe/b-pipe..
I think other people that have experienced the problem have solved it by putting, as you suggested, heat resistance material between the underbody and pipes, or bend the hanging hooks on the pipes to give more clearance.
I dont have too much experience with it though.. what I'll suggest is do a search on this.. or just take it to an exhaust shop and have them fix the problem for you..

remove the aluminum heat shield and youmay have to bend the corners of the cat with some pliers to get it to clear. also you may have to adjust some hangers to get everything to sit where you want. its pretty common with that cat.
