Procarparts.com generic SRI, any opinions?
Procarparts.com has a nice & cheap generic (no brand) SRI for sale for about $65. I'm aware it probably has a low-grade filter as well.
So a couple of questions:
Has anyone tried these?
Would I be able to pop out the generic filter & stick a K&N cone on there?
Any other ideas are welcome, thanks.

An intake is an intake....I would go for it.
All intakes are, are pipes with a big filter on the end really. And yes, you could get any number of universal filters for it.
I would stick with either Akimoto, K&N, or an AEM Filter for it. They will run you from 40-70 bucks for those three.
But still, you would be paying less than a AEM SRI or a Injen SRI.......And like I said, it's a pipe with a filter on it, that's it.
I have had friends that made some themselves from aluminum pipe and got a filter, and they work just as good as the name brands !!

you guys are missing the main reason to spend the money on an aem system as opposed to some no-name....the fit.....the no names really suck, i had lots of different cheap intakes on my older civics 91-99, and they all either didn't fit right, always rubbed against something, or most often, and everyone i know has had this problem with cheap intakes, they didn't stay in place well, usually they screw to the side of the engine bay, the cheapies always either come loose every second day or the welds just break were the bracket meet's the intake....i would really check this part of any intake closely to see how it's held in place.........

I agree with 1973 you get what you pay for in these kinda thing and if your not looking to spend a lot of money on your ride then the import scene isnt the place to be......i recomend you save your money and buy the AEM CAI youll be happy with you investment and itll work for you car.........good luck with your civic!
