HP Racing Header 4-1 w/high flow cat.

What a pain to install... The stupid thing won't clear the solid part of the engine mount. I have my car on jack stands waiting for this thing to go in. I refuse to put the wheenie tiny stock header back on. I guess I'll have to try again tonight. I guess after a few hours you get frustrated. That and HP has been dissapointing. It didn't come with a plug for the extra sensor ( I have an EX), and mine didn't come with any O2 simulators, on instructions (bought it from NOPI...is that the reason? Should it come with those? I haven't even got to putting it on yet...hopefully I won't run it to any more problems. If anybody has any advice on the install, it would be appreciated. There was an old thread on this, has anybody else had these problems lately?

remove the front mount. Put a jack under the engine and push it up a bit to get the clearence you need to get the header in. It is tight. You are going in from under the car right? .

Yeah, I'm going in from the bottom. Actually, let me call my friend up, his at my house trying to finish up right now (Now thats a good friend). So all he has to do is remove the bolt on that motor mount and jack it up? It won't damage anything?

remove the big bolt and then the 3 smaller ones holding the mount to the tranny. The stock mounts will allow the engine and trans to flex and move a bit with some pressure from the jack. This should help alot.

Thanks for the info. I just called my friend and that's exactly what he is going to do. Hopefully that does it. I'm just anxious to get the rest of the mods done this weekend.

Header is in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Header fit after removing the engine mount. Only problem now is the nuts for the spring bolts are welded on the OEM header. Now I have to stop by the store and pick up some nuts so I can finish the install. I'm wondering if these bolts are supposed to come with the kit? Has anybody else had this problem. Hopefully it wont leak after this.

what he said.
you might be thinking of the bolts that go from the original cat to your exhaust. for that you'll have to pick up some hardware.

first drive

Finished with the install...whew!! It doesen't leak (thank you everyone for their comments and help). Now I have to fix that damn rattle from where it hits the pipe. I was going to use my dremmel, but I figure I'll wait till Friday and use my friends blow torch like I've heard others say. Hopefully that works best. Other than that, you feel the gains right away, Now I'm putting in the CAI. Hopefully this goes a little smoother. Again, thanks for the tips.

I used a Angle grinder...I finished like in 10 minutes and it was smooth...... Don't use a torch......you'll make the frame weak using heat.....I can't think of the word for that but the metal won't be as hard as it was....

Thanks for the idea. I'll just have to find someone to borrow it from. Thanks again.

I work for Pepsi, and go figure, the fleet department has everything I need. 27mm sockets...grinders and chestfuls (organized) of metric bolts and nuts...heaven I tell you... So I'll be grinding tonight...too bad I have to take out the header and disconected from the cat, thats going to suck ..but tomorrow morning my magnaflow gets intalled along with my tokico blues...CAI should be finished tonight (recomendation: NOPI makes a good CAI, exactly like the AEM, just have to figure out how to make the IAT sensor stretch to the hole...next challange). I'll hopefully have pics soon...next up...50shot of nitrous.

You don't need to take out the header to grind it......well, I didn't All I did was unbolt it and disconect it from the Cat- and let it sit against the engine mount and push it up so the end will fit between the engine and the fire wall, since I didn't had it on a lift I tied the end to something on the car so it wouldn't fall against the frame......you should have enough space....well I had.....anyway what you are grinding its not too much....so It won't be hard at all...Good Luck

Installed

Go figure... I like the ride... the car is quite a bit quicker...but I hope it would be after spending that much money...I hear that I should give it a couple of weeks to see how everything settles. Now I have to buy the 02 sims to make the check engine light come off. The tokicos make a big difference. I will post pictures soon.

Anybody recommend a certain type of 02 sim? what works best for our cars? Thanks,
mIhO

HP are the dumbest people in the business. Seriously, they sent me two o2 sims and instructions for a Lexus IS300. I thought maybe it was the same process as the IS300 but i was soo wrong. Even when i called HP and spoke to Damian he said to take it to a professional. I responded with a simple logical question, "why, if I purchased the correct model number for my civic ex 02, did you send me the wrong instructions and tell me that I'm installing it wrong? Told me he didn't know.

They have a decent product but they are simply retarded. damn it that makes me mad. i wasted so much time trying to figure the wiring out. Plus, the friggin header hits against the subframe! SOBs! Its like they have cheech and chong working the shipping dept over there. and why can't they make the header fit properly?!

ok, i'm done venting.
