difference btwn intakes
i juss got my greddy evo ii exhaust and i wanna get a intake to match it. ive been lookin at products from a local store called "ptuning". they got 2 different intakes for my ride, which is a AUTO 03 ex coupe. so, theres juss a regular injen intake and a RD "race division" intake. the price difference is 100 bones so... would juss like to know if any of you have tried any of them or which one do you all prefer. thanks

a lot of people have been very happy with their Injen intake and even they're K&N intake. aem sucks *** IMO, but that doesn't mean they're not good. i just don't like aem.

I had both. One is a short ram intake where the filter sits in the engine bay, and the other is the cold air intake where the filter sits behind the bumper. I had both, but went back to stock and like it better.

^our cars suck at bolt ons. many people have come to a conclusion that honda has tuned our cars as best as possible straight from the factory. the only way to really get true performance gains out of our cars is either Boost, Swap, or Nitrous.
i disagree. intakes provide high end gain while it robs your low end. so if your driving habits are in the high end rpms, then an intake may be ideal for you. if your just crusing the streets, than of course the airbox is ideal.
injen RD = cold air which is available for automatics and manuals? make sure you purchase the right one.

The few extra hp isn't worth the noise, wasted gas, and wear on the engine from redlining all the time for the extra power that you can't even feel. Stock intake performs much better than any aftermarket intake. On older cars they were restrictive, but that's not the case with the 7thgen.

No not really. I have some head work done with other mods and I only gained 2whp after tuning. The factory ecu is pretty good unless you get a turbo.

... that's sarcasim, btw.
if u were to get cams custom pistons vafc etc then mods would probably make a small diff but i doubt anyone wants to do extensive n/a build up for a d17 when it will cost as much as getting nitrous or turbo etc. I have the aem sri and like it but would rather save money for other things that make a big difference swap etc

I'm planning on going Injen because I have a oil cap that is Injen, and matching is sexy...
