removing resonator?

im thinking about having custom 2.25" piping done on my exhaust, thing is that this would involve removing the resonator. i would probably get a normal muffler, maybe from an RSX or something, nothing like the coffee can style. i was wondering if anyone knows how much differnce the resonator makes in sound.

taking the resonator will make the exhaust more free flow and it will be much louder.

why would you want to make a 100 hp, 18 second economy car sound loud?

some people say it sounds ricey....my SRM is already loud enough w/silencer so i think i'd leave the resonator on if i were you or actually get a high flow resonator.

Taking the resonator off with a stock muffler will not make it louder specialy with a rsx rear seaction. I'm acutally thinking about when i get my k20a2 engine i'm gona put the rsx type s exhaust on it and just do minor things to the engine.

And to answer your questions goto www.rsxclub.com to get rsx exhaust.

preperationH plz read a bit more carefully before making dumbshit comments. i dont want to make it louder, i want to improve performance by redoing my exhaust, but like i said it would involve removing the resonator because the new exhaust wouldnt have one. thnx to all those who posted helpful stuff, and yeah k20a i posted on there hopefully someone will get back to me. do u have any idea what the diameter of the RSX-S exhaust is?

If i had to guess i would say 1.5 but once my buddy with his rsx type s gets on i'll let you know asap. Actually he still has his factory exhaust on his Type S and got a stage 1 turbo for it and might be selling it. I could ask him if he wants to sell it.

The stock muffler alone without the resonator keeps the car quite. And if you don't believe me stick your stock muffler back on and see. Cause i already did it before and it was a cool sleeper for a while but missed my exhaust.

lol..... improve performance with an exhuast with a 7thgen civic. we all know exhuast wont give you any gains. just admit that you want it for sound...... you want all the 8th grade girls at the mall to turn their head when you fart by in your 18 second economy car.

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh, look at me, i'm jaydeeAhm, i got my exhuast for pure performace... it takes away like 5 horse power from everything below 4k but gives me 3 hp to the rear wheels from 4k-15k in my civic.

damn ricer

Seems like your the ricer here if your the one with a fart can and all he wants to get is a rsx type s. and btw don't tell me the exhaust doesn't do nothing cause i run 17 flat with rims on the back each rim ways 26 lbs and headers that i just put on before the learning process. I'm not saying thats good but better than stock.

you're*

26 pound rim? wow, you must have the higher line of wheels wheelmax.com sells. i hope you're running at the very least a size 19 inch wheel for them to weigh that much. and why would you take your civic to the track in the first place? your car gives civic owners a bad name.

I'd say as soon as you get it try to put it on and if it don't fit just let a muffler shop do it. I would said there would have to be some modification to the exhaust piping.

lol dont know. lol funny thing is that the reason i want to do my exhaust this way is because i think its the best setup you can have from doing some research. i think a coffee-can style muffler isnt good cause of the whole backpressure issue and losing power if we dont have any, plus i heard that 2.25" piping is the best size, so i put the two together and came up with this idea lol. not sure, i think its been done before but never heard how it turned out. well let me know whenever you find something out from your friend.

well im not using the stock piping and then the axle-back will be RSX. im actually gonna take the muffler to a shop, and have them run 2.25" piping from the exhaust manifold back to the axle-back section.

I don't know thats what my friend with the rsx type s said it was. And if he has a base rsx then it might be different exhaust.
