k20 non type s worth it?

hey, haven't posted before, but really need some good opinion. I've got an 02 coupe and really would like a new rsxs, however I have 2 years of payments into my civic, and love the car, other than the crappy power. A type s k20 is so expensive to get swapped in, (like 10 - 12 k, in canadian), and I know a regular k20 is much cheaper, question is, could I get type s power from a 160 hp k20 for decent money? I know the type s now has 210 hp, but only 2 ftlbs more torque. Basically, would it still have high potential? and would it be much better than the d17a2? Thanks for any quality info. russ.

isn't the new engine the k20z1? which is might be a lil more expensive and harder to find than the regular k20a2?

i think the order goes from k20z1 (05 type s), then k20a2(02-04 rsx), then k20a3(base, current si engine)

if i were u, i'd save up for the type s engine... because i don't think the k20a3 is worth it

see thats the same question i ran into. since the more hp seems to come from the a2 head haveing more compression, does that mean i can run more boost on an a3?? if thats the case shouldnt the a3 be better for turbo and in turn put out more hp after turbo setup??

basically wat i am trying to figure out is that if i turbo both the a2 and a3 whith max boost which motor will have more hp??

anybody got an idea of average prices for both the type s and non? I've seen a few for around 1700 (non type s ). Or some pointers where I could find more detailed info on both engines?

talking to my self has always been an issue, anyway, found some info, k20a2 is type s in 04, and k20a3 is from base and civic si hatch. From the info on hondatech it seems like the a3 would be kind of a waste if i were to do the swap. Guess I'll save for long time, or just trade in my car in spring. thanks for the positive info.

a2 = rsx type s..

a3 = si and base rsx.. si comes with hydrolic power steering or something.. it's a better power steering than the base rsx, i know that much, because I remember somebody on the boards mentioning it.

Gearing, wich is part of the transmission setup is different on the S.i. and the Base RSX, but the engine is the same. K20A3

if you going to do it
do it right
get the type-s
and if are worried about torque
you can get more torque
with a new clutch and flywheel
or if you go with an auto
get a torque converter.

Go with the K20a2 and drop in a supercharger and you'll get around the same power for much less than the Type S.

K20a2 is rsx type s engine code.

Jackson racing supercharger for a2,a3 cost $2500.

In the long run your probably better off with the RSX-S engine... However, if the price is right I think you would be happy with the Si's.

There is plenty of potential in the a3. If you plan to keep the car for a while then go for it.

whats the difference between the A2 and A....yes i know the a puts out more hp... but my friend that did the swap said the only difference is that the A has higher compression and ITR internals... basically its a type S with ITR internals which make it the K20A
