Street or Prolite Flywheel???
Street or Prolite Flywheel???
My brother just ordered me a new clutch and flywheel.... gettin ACT heavyduty pressure plate with 6 pad race disc and a ACT Prolite flywheel. I am worried about the drivability of my car if i install the Prolite flywheel..... I'm basically bolt on at the moment. Boosting SF turbo by spring........ and i'm wondering if i should cancel the Prolite and get the Streetlite flywheel. How much will this effect my normal day to day driving? I live in the city and traffic and red lights are frequent. Need feedback ASAP......
usually around 11-13 pounds ur ok....anything less like 8 pounds (which most people use for turbo applications) ure screwed cause ur rpm goes up so fast, hard to control, and especially with a heavy clutch, even harder

At this point it really doesn't matter what flywheel you go with because your clutch is gonna make daily driving a living hell anyway. Since you're gonna ruin driveability with that clutch you might as well go with the lighter flywheel to keep it revving easier.

I have the 8lb flywheel love it...I also have the Exeddy 3 Puck clutch with very few springs. Also love it...have had it in for over a year now. At first it took some getting used to but after the first few days I would not have traded the setup for the world...will be doing the same setup again soon.

i wanted to run that setup but poeple told me i dont need it. it would be a pain i the ***. but i drive uop and down the highway, i dont really do much stop and go unless theres traffic. other then that when i go to NYC then it would suck i guess. but after read what you guys had to say im thinking of going with the 8lb. prolite and the exedy 3-puck.

Your set-up is to much for what youre going to be doing. A stage 3 at the most is good, more so, a stage 2 is more suited for daily use. A Street flywheel is enough at 11 lbs - the pro (8lbs) has a shorter lifespan from what i hear.

If youre gonna be boosting in the future, just keep it stock. Use your clutch, but dont change the flywheel, IMO You dont want the revs that much faster when your boosted. Terrible for daily driving, IMO.
