AEM or Unorthodox

I am thinking about getting some pulleys pretty soon. Would you guys recommend AEM or Unorthodox?

As long as you don't replace the crank pulley, either will be fine.

I was looking at the AEM Tru-Power pulley kit. Wouldn't that replace the crank pulley? Or are those just underdrive pulleys?

are unorthodox accessory pulleys as good or better then aem pulleys? or are the aem pulleys better? I mean this performance wise.

Either will work, as long as you don't replace the crank pulley. You will do more harm than good if you do that.

^i dunno, i've heard a lot of different stories on that....some say it's really really bad, don't get it, some say it won't matter that much

i've found numerous articles on the net...some say it's bad, some say it's ok...some say it doesn't matter...

from what i understand, if you have an old car and u change ur crank pulley..it's bad cause it relies on the harmonic dampener too much...now-a-days, engines have more harmonic dampeners than just that one....there's harmonic dampeners around the bearing that surround ur crankshaft etc...so it's ok for a newer car..an older car it's bad...

i have unorthodox, so far so good..love it!

No, there is only one harmonic damper on the D series. I don't know of anyone having problems on an otherwise stock motor with an underdrive crank pulley, however in my experience I would recommend against one.

I say aem cuz the aftermarket crank pulley is not worth the risk.

Just ordered the AEM pulleys today from Robearracing.com
$149.00 shipped.
I was gonna 2day em so I could slap them on before I go to the track Sat, but they were out of stock in red and wouldn't ship till friday.
So I prolly wont be able to track test them until next month when I go back.
Butt dyno until then.
Also got some motor mounts to eliminate wheel hop and hopefully lower my 60ft.
15's are coming.

well i can't claim that there was any hp gain at all cause i haven't dynoed my car yet...but it definitely feels faster, especially after 4000rpm....the acceleration is also much smoother...i'd say definitely worth it...i've personally never tried aem..but from what i heard, the aem pulleys underdrive the alternator and ps by alot...and if you have a sound system, your battery will die much sooner...with the unorthodox set, because the pulley is smaller, the accessories are actually overdriven, therefore working twice as hard....my voltage when driving is now constantly over 14volts, and my ps feels lighter now...before it was very hard....that's my 2 cents
