Or you could just go out and make your own grounding system for about $6.00 and half an hour of time...
Actually buying pre-made grounding kits is a waste of money. But I have heard a lot of testimony of improved throttle response and and less 'jerky' feeling. Though mind you such things are really subjective, if you've got nothing to do on a Sunday and six bucks in your pocket, I can't see the harm in it.

I have the ground kit in my car. The biggest differance I noticed is in the shifting, it's way smoother, but thats about it. I'm sure there were some other benefits but nothing noticeable. Like the others said you wont notice any hp gains, but I dont think its a waste of money either.

ive been looking at the HKS Earth Wiring system. But ill go to like radio shack or something and try to find wire that would suffice. it would be nice if the upgrade seemed to clean things up a bit. effecincy sp? is always nice...
i have the apexi ground kit, absolutely love it...but we only have a d17, so no point...but here's a dyno chart for a b16 with a "home-made" ground kit...which the people who made it call the t1-r

http://www.aj-racing.com/typeoneraci...s/DSCN2763.htm
definitely some gain there, 1.1 gain for torque and 1.4 gain for hp...not bad for a home made kit i guess....i'm gonna see if i have time to get a dyno done sometime before winter as well, i'll see what's the difference between the apexi grounding kit and without one...

I made my own grounding kit with 4awg wire.
I didn't really notice a power increase but my car runs smoother, shifts are nicer, headlights are brighter, starts a little better, quicker throttle responce and the A/C runs colder.
Overall , i'm happy with it.

Just to add what everybody is saying, I made a homemade grounding kit and I found that the A/C gets colder faster as does the heater. When I had my system in, I noticed that the bass was a lot tighter after putting in the grounding kit.
If you have the money, I say it really wouldn't hurt to put it in.

I just put in a grounding kit that I bought from derek-ceo. It didn't do much, but I didn't really install it all that well (couldn't get ot the tranny). First things I noticed were the headlights actually have a cutoff now, and the stock speakers seem a bit more responsive.
^try the members rides galleries for grounding kit shots. (maybe)
never heard of an ground kit increasing performance gains =\ but im gonna need one for better lighting and better power towards the system

i found an article somewhere that a mag tested a WRX and attributed some of the power gains to the upgraded wire system. I know that it is not our car but still... I will try and find the article to post.
ok ladies...let me school u guys
the supposidly correct points for grounding are:
-valve cover (any bolt will do)
-tranny (gotta take out airbox or intake to get easy access, bolt to the oem ground bolt)
-throttle body (make sure u have a torque wrench and find the spec)
-valve cover to radiator support (oem wire there, replace with thicker wire)
-vtec solenoid (behind fuel rail, don't have to do this one)
-firewall
-alternator
-if you want, pull a wire through ur firewall through the grommet (sp?) and pull it to ur trunk if u have a sound system...(a little extreme tho)
that's about it...if ur hardcore, then take a voltmeter and find the highest resistance from the negative terminal of the battery, to the bolt with highest resistance...this way you'll lower the resistance, giving that specific area better "power"..but that's a little extreme....

you know...this topic is covered in the DIY section of this website. go ahead and look at it.
my grounding points were negative to radiator support, rad sup to valve cover, negative to tranny, tranny to firewall, firewall to strut tower on drivers side. i should probably get another wire to go from the strut tower to the rad sup, yes?

I ran mine from:
- Battery to Tranny
- Battery to Rad support
- Rad support to Valve Cover
- Battery to passenger side chassis (stock location)
- Chasis to Firewall
- Firewall to Throttle body
- Throttle body to drivers side chassis
Basically you wanna ground from one end of the car to the other. Along the way, ground the major components of your car.
The only ground i'm missing is from Chassis to Alternator.

^it's for every car....did u ever see the ground wire for ur car? it's just 2 dinky little wires...and for those who don't know anything about electricity...here's a little lesson for u guys...
electricity flows from NEGATIVE to POSITIVE...not positive to negative....so when u really think about it, ur cars only being powered by 2 little wires that touch the tranny and the chassis.... so in this case, more ground = better!

This would be a lot of help... THanks

the higher the resistance, the better the ground...resistance is a bad thing...it slows down the electricity....you wanna bring down this "resistance" so therefore u add grounding wires to those points...like valve covers, why do u think people upgrade (thicken) their oem ground wire from their rad support to their valve cover??
armjr2: you need a pic to install wires? it's pretty straight forward....if u really want, i think there's a section in the DIY for this...
here's the link to the diy
