hp gains
hp gains
i have a 2001 honda civc ex. i was wondering about hp gains? in your opinion would a aem short ram intake-5p,dc sport 4-1 headers-10-12hp, megan hi flow cat.-5hp, ractive mid-section exhaust-5%-10%on the stock hp, and ractive cat-back exhaust-5hp i was thinking my 127hp stock would be about 160hp at the motor with all of that done to it? and also is it easy enough to install mid-section and hi-flow cat. at home myself using floor jacks and just switching it out since it's all just direct-bolt ons?
That is not an ordinary rabbit tis the most foul cruel beast

you are all crazy your, your saying all thoughs blot-ons would only give you 13hp more than stock if i were lucky, headers alone should give you 3quarters of that already, i'm going for hp gains and the nice sound

if you want gains like that you need to look into american cars.. Cobra's and Z28's get 10 hp from an intake.. not a little civic.

I have a pnp head and ported TB. Maybe gave me 5hp if that for serious engine work. Those boltons may give you 5-10hp max. Our cars are ulev and already tuned from the factory.

<rant start> why is it that this site seems to approach new people with noses firmly planted in the air? I was treated like a complete moron when I first started posting, and IMO it was uncalled for because I came to the site TO LEARN, not already having the knowledge that some of you all have. Nobody has to laugh, just say what you have to say to correct someone and move on. And by correct someone, I don't mean laughing at them for their idea or opinion like they're the fat kid at the dodgeball game. What the old heads around here have to remember is that people are joining this site with stock cars and in need of info, not getting put down. They don't know and YOU do, so use it to an advantage to help them, not to laugh at them. You might not have been at such a lack of knowledge once, but for damn sure there are tons of people who post on here that have learned a ton from their posting and reading of threads. Bottom line: the noobs need not get torn up...I'm tired of seeing it for one, and secondly, has anyone ever heard of general politeness? It didn't broadly exist when I joined, I doubt it still does now. <rant over>

Mad Rapper: "" Tell em` why u mad"
Sorry for makin you feel this way.
Sike
But my momma always said think before you talk.
Don't have your boy come here assuming that he's gonna gain this tremedous, rediculous, large amount of horsepower just from bolt-ons like he said. Let's go
What makes you think a $16,860 + $1,055.98 civic ex is gonna be able to push 160hp?. In that case honda would of never made the f*ckin`civic si which starts around $19,070 and I quote./
Now I'm gettin mad.
It da 13th of friday
go break a leg.
Politeness is good to those who mind their own BUSINESS
We are here to help but don't come saying crazy stuff like I could make this amount(a good 30hp) after someone with experience already told you, you can't. It's like now you the postee wants to start denying our advice the site.
Lets be real nice guy.
in the fine script, look up
it's read the last line.
No homo.

before u go saying "think before you talk" what if they did do some research.. i too remember doing my research when i first bought my first civic back in 1998. i looked up all the parts and you know what... all the claims for the different parts of the cars these companies make such as intake up to 15hp or u will gain 10 more hp with these headers and stuff. i actually thought and believed that back then... they even do the same thing to our newer 7th gen parts too so i can see why someone would come in here thinking that.. its not our fault they come in here with that knowledge.. its what they read elsewhere and so they come into here to confirm it with other people.. well just my 2 cents
thanks for all your guys help but i still think i will get somewhat of that gain still, guess what in another 4-5 hours thers's going to be a hurricane here, i live in the bay area, florida
Gearbox is deffinatly into performance more than alot of use posting here. He eats, sleeps and drinks it, he has done so many mods to his car just to switch to something else, it's nuts!
Hey Gearbox, that DH Racing pulley was a total piece of crap huh, mines sitting in the box it came in. Bastards......

So don't believe everything you read. Didn't you learn that in school. I know my history and english teacher told me that and they both had masters degree. When there products say you gain power they say u gain up to such and such hp. Its not my fault I don't believe everything and you should to. Thats why they made dynos to get your **** correct. Research before you post or post questions and don't assume.
Got to go
u win
I have the following mods on my engine. I don't know what the actual gains are, but it does feel a little more powerful, and the way I drive I have been getting better mileage...
K&N FIPK-II Intake - about 5 HP gain, according to K&N, many on the site say it is te only intake worth buying as you don't lose any low end torque
HP Racing Header - No idea about gain, see wild claims, but no real dynographs. Headers are basically useless without:
Random Technologies Super High Flow Catalytic Converter - Your Header and Exhaust are pointless without one of these. Luckily, the RT one comes with a B-Pipe to hook on to your shiny new header, so it actually will do something!
RS-R ExMag Cat-Back Exhaust - Nicest Sounding Exhaust, to me. I don't like sounding like a giant weedwacker. This will give you a few HP, in tandem with an intake/header/catayltic converter
JetChip ECU Upgrade - Don't really know what this does, but I told them what I did to the car and they allegedly made changes. Felt a difference before/after anyway.
I would say all in all, maybe, MAYBE a total of 15 peak HP gained with these, and these are considered to be the best on the market. By peak HP I mean near the top of the RPM range, which is basically useless except for passing on the highway. If you really want power...Lighten that Pig! Look at the Lotus Elise. Under 2000lbs with a 190HP Toyota Celica Engine in it, and it will smoke A LOT of cars. Another example of extreme lightening is my M3. I have custom Carbon Fiber Hood, Trunk, Front and Rear Quarter Panels and Door Panels. I have 2 racing seats in it, no stereo etc. I did do some extreme engine tuning, but it is even faster than when it came back from Dinan now that it has shed about 500-600 lbs.
And while we're on the topic. SEARCH!!!

I hear you, man, I got the same treatment back when. I thought they were just jealous of my rides, and that's why I always hear about how Supras are the only fast car in the world

it sounds like to me that "skillwill" is an *** it was just a qustion not a statment. and from what i see we ussally get about 3-5 hp per bolt on. on an average. and i felt a good gain from my header but it is only because i put a 2 1/2" d/p on at the same time with a catco cat so with those three things i felt a good gain.
