Horsepower gain..

Hey guys....I am really thinking of getting an cat-back exhaust for my 03 LX. I am just posting this thread to see which exhaust set up has the best and most noticeable gains. I have done a lot of reading and search button inquiries, and i read a lot about the sounds of exhaut the fitting of exhaust, but am looking for someone who already has an exhaust and can tell me about there findings.... Well thanks for your time and happy driving!

I love my dc tcs exhaust. Some people dont like it because of the look, its from dc, or the weight(50 lbs). I have the k&n air filter with the dc ss header, with the dc tcs exhaust. I really love the sound, and I get compliments where ever I go. I think the tanabe race-medalian(sp) is the one with the best gains. There was a thread about this a while back. I cant remember. You need to think of how you want your civic to look and what you want to do with it.

I'm not sure about the fit of the Tanabe on an LX, but I've got one on my EX and LOVE it. It's a shame that the LXs don't have VTEC because the Tanabe sings once it engages. As far as performance goes, there is a barely noticable lag coming out of the hole, but decent increases in the higher RPMs. The sound is great, it's a bit loud when you get on it, but nice and low and throaty. If you go easy on her she won't draw too much attention. When I got mine, I put the baffle in for an afternoon and decided that it was too quiet. In my mind I didn't pay almost $500 for an exhaust that would be the same as stock. That may be a bit "rice" but I like it and it's my car, right? Anyway, that's my little review. I hope it helps.

I have the GReddy Evo 2 and ive been running it for almost a year. I love the sound, its pretty quiet. Doesnt sound like a bunch of pissed off bumble bees in a tin can like some exhaust systems do. You can only really hear the exhaust up to about 3500 rpms, then basically you just her the engine after that, and it isnt loud and obnoxious inside the car at any RPM.

See that is what im looking for.....nothing to noticeable to the cops......but not a cheap walmart sounding exhaust. But there isnt one that stands out from the rest, when it comes down to horsepower agains??? What about the Apexi n1? Anyone have any comments on that?

I don't have one, but I love the HKS axle back. But for a good priced exhaust you could get the MEGAN cat-back from ROBER RACING.

You will not get anything over 10 hp on any of the exhaust on the market unless you already have a supercharger or a turbocharger.

don't go by dyno results, it's all how it feels too you...i had the EVO and it felt great; made the car feel real responsive, but...it gave 5 hp to the wheels(WOW!!)..but it felt like a totally different car to drive with a header and a race cat...But..people are going to say our cars suck and get noooo power and are a total waste, but still they buy products from companies who promise power and never get any...that's why i buy used, can't go wrong...

yes, magnaflow has a NICE deep sound. Not too obnoxious. You can grab one on ebay for like $350.

hayame makes a cat back for LX....

i have magnaflow...and it just hangs too freakin low, yes even with the piping welded together. but oh well. small price to pay for good sound, noticeable gains.

i think i'm gonna try the hayame soon...
