stock resonator removal?
i want to have a shop by my house make 2.25" piping for my car. if i want to keep the sound pretty quiet should i keep the stock resonator? how much does it do? also would i be able to keep the stock one or would i have to buy a new one that would fit the new piping? ill keep my stock catalytic converter.

Well, if you keep the stock one it will just create a bottle neck in the exhaust at that point. Honestly, for what you want, just get an axel back system and throw it on yourself in 15 minutes tops. If you MUST go with custom I recommend the Magnaflow resonator.

a somewhat bottle next will be good for back pressure. I know my friend with an si have a full custom cat-back with stock mufler for that same reason.

using 2.25 piping and the stock reso (inlets are only 1.75) will make the 2.25 pipiing before it useless....yes some pressure is needed but it would be better to go with a straight thru resonator (like myself) instead of using the stock one with custom piping...I have the HKS axleback with a straight thru reso welded in place and i'm still using my stock piping from the catback...the sound is much quieter than running it without a reso..i have a clip up on the exhaust thread
btw u can get straight thru resonators from JCwhitney.com
