Not without an impact, which alot of us don't have. I'm still looking, but I think somewhere around $50 is reasonable. It's under an hour for install.

How much can I get an impact wrench for?

Wouldn't it be do-able without an impact wrench? You know, use some elbow grease instead?

You'll need an impact wrench. You run a high risk of maybe stripping something because those things are torqued down pretty good. Do it the right way.

It's not that it would be hard to do by hand...I'm not saying that, I would just be afraid of it slipping off the nut/bolt and rounding the edges...Any real mechanic will tell you the same thing. Either way, it can be done. Just a little FYI

Im sure it can be done by hand with good tools if you have the brawn.

You have to put some muscle into it (in best Mcbain/Rainier Wolfcastle voice)

ok heres why..... u take the belt off right.... WELL... timing has to do with the head and the block working together... basically the cylnders need to be in sync with the valves and the spark-
you got the valves openin and closing.. the plugs firing and the pistons going up and down... if the time'n is off.. then the pistons HIT the valves (bending them) cylnders FIRE at the wrong times and usually this will destroy the engine... this is what happens when the timing belt breaks... the crank is still spining (movin the pistons) but the valves arent openin and closing at the right time nor do the plugs fire right... which leads to knock, detonation, broken block.. etc, etc...

so with that said FLY...
if u screw the timing up , ull destroy the engine.
this and this alone is the only reason i would take it to a shop to do .. so if they **** it up its their fault.. BUT at the same time its very easy to mark the cranks and know where they were set.. BUT like i said if ur off ONE TOOTH.. ur in trouble!

and BTW... theres NO WAY IN HELL GUYS.. THAT UR GONNA STRIP OR mess up the crank nut... A. its huge, u need a deep socket for it
B. the most important is that its 2$ nut from honda.

So a shop will know how to set it perfectly? This is worrying me if the engine will die when the install isn't done exacty right. Most places won't claim responsibility for getting you a new engine if they mess up.

i dont see why they wouldnt...

look.. take it to a mechanic shop.. not a performance one... this is a ten minute ordeal with a lift and air gun. all mechanics should, SHOULD meaning if they're not some guy who works out his house know how to change the pully with no problem what so ever..

btw the instructions.... saying that u gotta trim the black cover.. well thats so u dont have to remove the whole valve cover just to get that black dust cover on and off.. makes things alot easier ... that itself should be a DIY for everyone ne way.. just undo the two bolts.. take a razor blade or dremel and cut the little black lip that goes under the valve cover and makes a half circle. its really easy. its also a help in the long run if u have an adjustable cam gear or work on your motor alot, some people tend to leave them off once taken off but if u trim the lip on the black plastic cover youll be able to put it on and off with ease ... keeping it on helps keep dust, crap, road slime, etc, etc off the pully and belt.

The single groove pulleys are already on some members rides. Dual groove ships at the end of the month hopefully.

I just got quoted $80 if I supply the belts, which i think it fair for San Diego, hey but at least I found a respectable place to do it at. I'm going to pann auto in case any other san diego people need a place to go. We still need belt numbers though?
