It's only torqued to 14ft/lbs.

Yea right. I can hand tighten a bolt more than that. I know that the crank pulley has to be torqued down more than that. I know it's a bitch to get off.

Sorry, I didn't post the complete info. It's torqued to 14ft/lbs and then rotated 90 degrees beyond that. Still not enough for an impact. And Honda notes not to use an impact on that bolt ever. Just sharing some info.

Well Honda reads a book, I do the installs, and tell you what I learn from it. I use a 600 FT lb Air Impact that can break cranks and never had a problem, but I also use my electric impact, and it works just fine.

I guess Honda just threw that in there to take up space then.

Sometimes it's better not to follow the directions word for word. Does anyone really have a panel-popper to remove their door panels? Cause Honda says not to use anything else.

Your panels aren't the same as your engine. And either way, Honda doesn't say not to use anything else for the panels. Sure, it says use the popper tool, but it doesn't say not to use a screwdriver. In the case of the pulley bolt, it says use a socket, and then specifically says not to use an impact wrench. I'm not arguing in this thread. I'm just pointing out what I see and know. It honestly wouldn't affect me on what or how anybody does anything to their cars. I'm just trying to save trouble (and money for those who feel that they need to go out and buy an impact wrench). I'm not a promoter of the book. Someone wanted to know what kind of impact was good, and I provided what the specification was.

Thanks for the info. Someone said that the crank bolt is cheap anyway, if it ends up breaking. Oh well. I'll let the shop worry about it. If they break something, it's on them.
