Magnaflow dyno results
i was searching around for some catback exhausts, and i found the magnaflow one and a dyno for it. the magnaflow webpage seems to have a fairly good dyno for the 2001+ civic ex with their exhaust. they said you will gain 9.3 hp and 7.7 torque. the picyure doesnt look like a real dyno, but the results seem accurate considering the original hp and torque provided. do you think this information is accurate? anyone think the greddy evo cat back will give more or less hp than the magnaflow? below is a pic of the dyno on the 2k2 ex with the magnaflow.
I sure wish my car was newer

And if it was all measured at the crank, then I could believe 9.2hp and 7.7 ft/lb tq. But at the wheels? I don't buy it.

Oh, I got all excited when I saw this thread cuz I thought you dynoed it.
That chart up there is just an Excel chart or something.

there's a magnaflow GB and the guy sellin it had that pic also, and i asked the guy whether or not that dyno is real, and he said if it wasn't real, they wouldn't sell it... i still call BS though, there's no friggin way our puny little d17's can sqeeze out that much HP from an exhaust system which is no diff from the tanabe or any other one out there
i think there was some discussion about exhausts before, and i duno who it was, but some1 posted statistics on a exhaust comparison that was done on all the available exhuast systems for the 7th gen, and the tanabe came out #1 with their SRM cat back which made a 3.3 hp gain... that's more believable.
If they don't post a REAL friggin dyno chart, i'm not gonna believe it.

Magnaflow is a pretty good company, but have you seen the muffler? The canister is huge! I mean you'll prob still scrape it even if your car isn't lowered... HKS Hiper over here. I love it! Second choice would be Greddy Evo.

I am a firm believer that the dyno there is at the crank or BS. We dynoed our 7thgen, with an Injen SRI, DC header & 5 Zigen cat-back and got 5.3 hp and 7.9 lbs/ft of torque. So the D17 is not responsive to bolt-on hp mods. We were shooting for more torque than HP, so I guess that we somewhat succeeded there.
I own one
I currently have the Magnaflow cat back on my car. Seat of the pants says little or no change in power. Canister size AND sound is VERY similiar to the Greddy EVO. I have plenty of clearance with the Eibach Pro Kit...don't see that being an issue unless you have a 2.5++ drop. Very nice quality tho for their price.

Is or isnt the canister about the same size as others, what would have been a better choice to not scape if your car is lowered?
