Question Anyone retrofit a 2004 Coupe Grill into a 2001-2003?

Searched and found conflicting stories. Has anyone actually done the retrofit? If so, is it a bolt off/bolt on, or is custom work needed?

doesn't look like it'll fit. when I went for my last oil/filter change I checked that junk out.

I'm just waiting for www.hondaautomotiveparts.com to get 2004 parts in. I'm ordering one, but even if it doesn't fit, I'm going to cut the honeycomb mesh and cut off the mesh on my current euro grill and glue the 2004 mesh onto the euro lip grill.

edited. see posts below

It's not so easy singe the mesh grill is thick, not like the other grills you see out there. But, I guess if you used a precision cutting tool like a Dremel or something, and then carfully ground the edges for a tight fit, you could then epoxy it to the lip... dunno, but post pics if it works.

Yeah man, that will be hard to make it look right. I think the altezza grill you have looks good already. If you just want an H in the middle, you should get the base and emblem for the Si and glue that on. It will even be raised up.

yeesh 04s are already getting common. I saw 2 in the parking deck (one was around since last semester, and other new one still had the dealer license on the rear windshield), and one parked on the street. Big nono. it attracted more attention than the crossfire next to it. another nono (that kind of car parked on the street???). college students these days...

oh waitaminute. I'm one too haha. but i over-respect my car.

Why is it that alot of people with new civics really hate their cars? I've seen tons of them dirty with scrapes and dents. It's like the owner feels like he's stuck and just doesn't care to keep it new.

I sat and talked with a Hond tech guy in the parts department for like a half hour yesterday. We came to these conclusions. It's basically a 50/50 chance. He said that people used to swap out the EX grilles from 99 coupes and put in the Si grille no problem. The issue with this one is that on the 01-03 grilles it looks like it comes to more of a point at the bottom, rather than a rounded edge. Also the total purchase would be like $100. You have to buy the grille, the backing, the lip and the H emblem all separately.

The lip that is shown in that pic above isnt on the 01-03 grilles, and it comes painted to match. So its a big if and Im sure it could be modified to fit, but you also need to take into consideration the sides and make sure the headlight angles are the same.

My suggestion would be to pull off your grill which I am going to do once they get some '04 parts in stock and take it in and place it next to the grille and see.

P.S.- the new '04 wheels look pretty tight.

I don't hate my car, actually i love it(except the low hp) but I do have marks and stuff on my bumper and such, I wish I didn't but people are stupid and I don't really have the money to get it fixed right now, so it just has to stay like that. I try and keep it as clean as possible, but that is almost impossible at college.

Has anyone ever found out for sure if the 2004+ honeycomb mesh grille will retrofit into a 2001-2003?
