That may be the law but if you ever get pulled over and you have the high flow cat in place i dont think they will ever know Ive seen some high flow cats on cars and they look axactly like a the oem one . so unless the cop is into cars or he has a book of everysingle kind of eom cat and pis of it i think its pretty safe to say your not gonna get caught . random tech says it even uses the oem 02 sensor holes and everything . Id put it on my car i doubt ill get caught besides im not 100% sure but i dont think its a big fine since youtechnicaly still have a cat on they cant charge you with not having one which is a huge fine i thin its just a fix it ticket and if its bolt on like they say just bolt the oem one on and get the ticket signed off.
someone correct me if im wrong

Not sure well someone on here passed with a high flow cat and header and exhaust and stuff dont know which high flow cat it was but i read the post search and see i think it was recently
I have the universal random technologies high flow cat on my car. It looks the exact same as the cat pictured but without the piping. I had custom 2.5" piping made. I passed emissions here in canada (which is pretty tight too) for a vehicle transfer. I have the kamikaze header installed which resulted in me needing the cat. I did not notice a significant decrease in hp between driving with no cat and with the cat installed.

What a waste of money - I plan on getting the universal series carsound cat with dual O2 bosses. Its only like $40 shipped, they are made by magnaflow. The only thing that sucks is that it requires flanges to be welded on.....still a lot less than $295, plus all of the guys on HT swear by them (vs swearing AT the random tech one).....

It meets Federal EPA & CARB requirements, but no aftermarket catalytic
converters are legal for installation in California on OBD 2 vehicles (some
94 & 95, and all 96+ vehicles).

if i already have a cat back exhaust...am i screwed? will this fit to an axle back? and what is the diameter, it's funny ....when i read all these exhaust tech articles, diameter seems to be the most inportant factor, but none of these manufacturing sites don't tell us the piping size. if this downpipe/cat has smaller diameter piping than my cat back, should i even bother with this?

If you live in cali you will not pass visual inspection. Besides everyone knows cali likes to make laws againt you modifying your vec! they can write you up for an airtake unless you got the slip on you rofl. Im serious here! The best thing to do is get a friend to umm overlook the visual inspection or even better get a smog test from an identical vech. Not saying anything ilegal here >.>. Just you turbo people with standford fabrication stuff are kinda screwed unless he gets that CARD cert!

I could really care less about the smog laws and such. The earth was alot hotter when dinos were around but omg there were no hondas so you cant blame that. I care about some eviromental things but with our ulev and such I could care less about a cat less car.
FYI
There is only 1 manufacturer who has a CARB approval for OBDII vehicles....Car Sound.....Not your everyday $50 universal, the 43000 series is the only item legal for use on OBDII vehicles in California......

quote from email (car-sound / magnaflow)
Thanks for your contact. I'm assuming you live in CA? Sorry, we do not make a CARB-approved converter for your vehicle. If you haven't already done so, adding our muffler would add a lot more performance than a converter.

Yeah, but you have to remember that there are members here in CA running no cat (catalyst for ex). Don't ask me how they get around carb exemption since I don't live in CA....
