Wow I got screwed.
Wow I got screwed.
I FINALLY get my intake (AEM SRI), and it is incomplete. I am missing one of the hoses (that connect the pipes together) and the other hose (pipe to engine?) is deformed. I don't know what the hell to do, I blew $120 on this, and the guy doesn't even accept returns (local store). Now I'm out $120, and don't have a working intake, this really, really sucks. Everything was all sealed up, so I guess it's AEM's fault? I don't know..but this sucks.

man.. pep boys have hoses for days.. just ask them for intake hoses.. like.. no more than $1/foot.. prolly.. iono prices..
I guess I could go buy a hose from pep boys, but I don't know what the correct type is etc. This all seems like WAY too much work, first the guy calls me saying that they didn't have the one I ordered in stock, so I had to get a red one. I wanted blue, now I end up with a red one that doesn't even have the right stuff with it. Would a hardware store even have one of the "converter" hoses? I don't understand how any of this works, and I DONT want to mess up my car. I may be better off selling this and just ordering a blue one off the net like I wanted. I dunno if anybody would buy an incomplete intake though (except me).

go to pep boys, and ask them if they have any air intake hoses (i think they're vacuum hoses).. if the dude doesnt know what yer talking about, show him the intake, and where the hoses attach.. if they sell "performance" things (******* APC crap...) they should know what yer talking about..

I used a piece of heater hose for the breather connection on mine because Injen left it out. Just go into the honda dealer and ask them for a foot of heater hose. Its kinda stiff, but it does the trick. Either that or find a plumbing supply store. Just get a hose thats the right diameter that it'll seal.
If it's an AEM intake, contact AEM, tell them there's parts missing and explain what happened. THey may say you have to deal with th evendor you bought it from, but they could also have you send it back and exchange it for the right one. Even blue instead of red - and likely all the parts with it ..
But if you do have to deal with the guy you bought it from, it's not considered a return if you don't get everything you paid for. That's poor business practice, and you should tell him that you want the rest of it, because otherwise it's no good to you and you want your money back. You shouldn't have to go to Pep Boys or wherever to buy additional parts to get it to work, that's just pure bullsh¡t ...
Anyways best of luck to ya ...

he's not just talking about the hose.
looks like he's talking about the rubber adapters that connect the pipes together and the pipe to the throttle body.
as for the SRI comment about 3 wacky bends, thats for the DX/LX SRI.
the EX SRI is more straight through and has less bend.

This is interesting. About a year ago I ordered an AEM SRI for my 94 Civic and the first package I received was opened and had parts missing. Fortunately for me the vendor offered to replace it even though he just drop shipped it from a warehouse. This sounds like a lasp of Quality Control on AEM's part.
