yeah that one. I love the sound, love the power (maybe it is in my head), but seems quicker through gears under power. plus, there is no metal tube that gets and stays hot. A+ theres my 2 cents.

To tell you the truth PBussman, it really doesn't matter what kind of Intake you get; because every short ram will do the same thing as any other SRI, and this also go's for the cold air's. I have a Topspeed CAI, and I think it does just as good as any other CAI. Yeah I had my heart set on the AEM V2, but the Topspeed was in stock for $120. Sure maybe some CAI and SRI intakes are better than others, but it's only gonna be at the most by like, 2hp. And is that extra 2hp worth $100 or more??? So I would just go with any CAI where you have heard the name before. But I'm hearing that the K & N is best for your 01+ Civics.

) there have been gbuys on these for around that price as well. I am still loving that setup by the way.

Just search on ebay for "01 civic super intake" and the only results are this and one other one.

hey, so how is the super intake works? Can it still be considered as a CAI??? because it is just a short air intake with a plastic cover...but I still want to know how it worked? good? noisy?
and becareful about the bracket, if you can solidify it any how, do it, because it will break.
man, thats the RD Aero intake i had, what a piece of $hit. the bracket that mounts the pipe on the engine frame actually broke off at the weld point after 2 weeks of driving. stop your payment or something and get the K&N FIPK2, thats the best SRI for the 7thgen as of right now.

Me too. I am returning my car back to stock to buy a WRX. After I had reinstalled the OEM intake I noticed a huge jump in low end torque that I didn't have with my Injen CAI. Top end power kind of faded but it wasn't too noticeable. I would just keep your money and stay with the OEM. Or maybe even a short ram intake. CAI's are a complete waste of money for our cars. Just my .02

Here's my reply since there are only 41 posts already
I have FIPK II. I would totally recommend it, and here's why. No loss of low end torque. Plastic tube doesn't get hot like metal AEM and Injen tubes. Heat shield to prevent hot air from getting in the way.
That's the only intake I have experience with, but here is what I've heard about other ones:
AEM and Injen CAI: Good top end gains but low end torque loss. Metal piping heats up. Needs bypass valve to prevent hydrolock.
AEM and Injen SRI: Hmm I actually heard that these cause a loss of hp, but some people have said otherwise.
eBay intakes: I heard they suck, but if you only care about looks then they're the best deal.
Weapon-R: Everyone makes fun of this company but I heard their intakes kick ***. You can get the Ram Air Kit from them for $50 more and turn your intake into a Ram Air system
, altho this is a BITCH to install on our cars.
Aero design (aka eBay super intake): It looks like a good, semi-ram air design, but YS sold or is selling his so maybe it sucks.
HKS: Haha, HKS doesn't make an intake for our cars. They make filters, tho.
APC: The saying goes that APC stands for "Aftermarket Pieces of Crap." I'd stay away from it, unless you just want an intake for looks.
You have to decide if you want looks or performance. Some cheaper intakes may look and sound cool buy may actually take away hp.

strictly speaking, intakes are ricy???
so,
overall comments are that intakes do nothing to the performance, well, 5hp max. Their only purpose is to make the car inside looks nice and make sound...
isn't that definition of ricy? items which only make the car "look" and "sounds" like sportive but infact it does nothing at all?
so the sound of intake will actually attract challenge of some real sport car or muscle car to come kill us?
same idea with the loud muffler?

Just that from the definition of RICY , intake and far canon muffler should really be it...
I was thinking to get an intake but after I hear people comment it as useless and only make sounds, I start to think it is an item similar to far canon mufflers.
Regular car should not make any noise at all, because the noise will give any car a cheap feeling. Muscle cars and sport cars are exceptions because noise is a trade off for their power, that is, they are designed with a lot of power, in result, they can be noisier. When people hear noise from a sport or muscle car they won't think it as cheap because they know those car a least have the power.
But now with intake or muffler on civic, performance did not increase at all but the car become noisy...I am not sure but isn't by doing those modifications we actully make the car worth than stock? because we spend money to make the car noisy? spend the money to make the car cheap?
Really confused.
Lacking the time and motivation to seek out a dyno I try to rely on "seat of the pants", torque steer, wheel spin, rpm time to cut off ...ie:3000 to 7000 in 10th/sec. and of all things fuel mileage. Assuming you can tune out the noise factor you should be able to get a fair read on some HP mods. I think to out right dismiss intake and exhaust mods is a bit much.

A good intake will give you about 5hp. Some are louder than others. My K&N FIPK II is only louder than stock about 4000 rpm. Below there it sounds no different. So in other words, when you're under heavy acceleration you will hear it, but at normal cruising you will not.
If it's too loud for you, and I don't think it will be, you can put sound deadeners in your engine bay. That should keep the sound down.
I agree with you about the definition of ricey. To me, rice is anything that gives the impression of high performance but does nothing to actually help performance. So, an intake that adds 5hp is not rice, because it helps performance. An intake that causes you to lose hp but "sounds cool" is definately rice. And if your reason for getting an intake is to "sound cool," that's possibly rice, or at least a ricey attitude.

that is a good intake then

my idea would be getting an intake which does not make noise at all, at least below 400rpm, yours sounds to be a good one.
anyone knows good CAI for automatic BUT NOT make noise? Ingen makes noise and the location of the filter is very suspecious, I would think water can go in.
short air intake will perform worth than stock for sure, according to Honda...and it is noisy
what option do I leave with?
lease: AEM V2 is the best.. go to www.AEMpower.com look at there dyno charts for stock intake power and then there intake.. the V2 adds about 10hp

orion_squall, I think you meant "4000rpm" not "400rpm"
Anyway, if you want a CAI for automatic I know Injen makes one. But users report loss of low end torque.
It's not a CAI, but I still recommend the K&N FIPK II. It's a SRI, but the plastic tube and heatshield prevent air from getting hot.

yeah does anyone have the V2 i'd love to see some reviews of them, i almost got one but i was told it wasn't worth the money because it didn't produce that much more gains over the regular cai
on ebay V2 is just 250$, after a while it will be 150$ like the 1st gen of AEM...
but... any review? noise-wise because noise will stop me from buying anything like that. I look down at non-performant car which makes huge muffler noise or noise in general.

Do people just say "Get the V2" without having used it first? The reviews I've read of it say that it's just a short ram intake for our cars and I think some people said it dynoed at less than the V1.
But I'm going to say "I don't know" because I've never used it.

I had an AEM SRI. It sounded cool at first and gave some topend power, but eventually I got tired of it and went back to stock to get the lower end back. Also, consider whether you want that loud sound when you're driving uphill through mountains or on the freeway. I couldn't stand that sound anymore. I guess FIPKII is the best intake if you're not taking long trips or climbing hills.
i think the k&n typhoon 2 is the best intake to get. it makes very little noise and gave me a big amount of hp. it is pretty neat to because it can turn into a sri to avoid water. it only sounds as loud as the car is really going, definitely not ricey, but a little pricey...$350.00
