Intake manifold retrofit?
Intake manifold retrofit?
Alright guys I am new here. I own a 2002 honda civic ex coupe and I just bought an intake manifold. NOw I want everyones opinion on this especially those that know differences between honda engines.
I bought a obx intake manifold for a 99-00 honda civic 1.6l vtec. That is not the same engine we have, we have the 1.7l vtec. I was guided through my friend so this is why I purchased this.
I realized today(i know very stupid of me) that the throttle body on the 7th generation civic is on top compared to the older ones that is on the side. The intake manifold I have obivously is for the older version, not the new ones.
I spoke to my friend freaking out and he told me to calm down. He says that is it possible to do it and he is going to do it for me(he is experienced and knows what he is talking about but I really need second opinions). He says he is going to move the throttle body to the side. Will there be enough space for that? Where will the filter go?(i don't have an intake yet). Is this sh** even possible! Can you do this? Someone help!!!

Not without fabricating some intake piping and a getting new universal filter from K&N. Plus I don't know if the holes in the intake manifold line up in the same spot as the bolts in the head? Probably not. You'll have to weld those up and drill new ones to match. Either that or custom fabricate a mounting plate. Plus the throttle cable and cruise control cables have to be slightly modified. Everything is possible, but it's a **** load of work. Bleh. Unless your friend is a guru, then send that 6th gen manifold back and buy something meant for the 7th gen (like the KMS intake manifold).
the kms civic has a throttle body to the side instead of topmounted.
Edit* I take it back they used a racing? intake manifold
