Cool, I thought so. Also, on this topic, with my Silverstars, I have noticed that when I first turn my lights on, they seem the brightest and whitest, and almost look like HIDs, especially in my white-painted garage. Then, as I drive around with my lights on for a while, the brightness and whiteness seems to fade. Is this normal? Is it something unique to the Silverstars, or the Civic's alt/battery output? This phenomenon really puzzles me.....

I thought Mtecs were more expensive than Silverstars or Luks? What did you pay for yours and where did you find them??

mtecs are great bulbs.... they still run at the stock wattage, but they look much brighter... they will not burn or melt your stock housing and the harnesses that come stock are good enough for them... they are dirt cheap on ebay and if you dont trust ebay for some reason circa x has connections in mtec stuff because it is an off shoot of PIAA (which also shows u that it is reliable)... get mtecs

I've only used mtecs, and to me they are very very white. Check out the "my ride" gallery, and you can see a pic of them in halo projectors. Plus, I have a LIFETIME warranty on them. I paid $25 or $30$ for them shipped. They've blown out on me twice since I had them for about a year now. They blew out since moisture was getting in the housing, but I sealed it up, and its great now. Anytime they blow, I just put them back in the orig case, send them back to the person I bought them from on e-bay, then within a week or two, you get a brand new set!. All you pay for is shipping going to the person and shipping it back to you. I think mtec is the way to go if you want cheap, WHITE bulbs.

The bulbs itself are blue. I'm pretty sure that all bulbs that emit a white light have a bluish tint to it though.

I recently bought a set of Mtech lights. And they are awsome. They are so nice........they are super white with a small hint of blue to them. High quality, low price. I recommend going to www.customauto.ca to buy them. They offer great service and competitive prices. Well worth the buy if your looking for some replacement bulbs for the ugly yellowish ones with out breaking the bank account. Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks, but before installing any new bulbs in your drivers side headlight housing make sure its properly sealed. I ran into the same issue on my passengers side and no matter what bulb brand I used they'd blow up in 3 months or less or flicker during rainstorms. What I did was air out my housings for a day, then reseal it with a ton of silicone compared to my initial seal (silconed track and sides after closed, so 3 areas [track, right and left of the 2piece joins]). Now any carefully handled bulb, no touching or hitting against anything lasts for 6+ months in my headlights. I've had my Luks for over a year w/ no issues. The only reason I chose Luks were because they carry H11's and are the whitest next to MTECs. If MTECs had H11's I'd get them, since they are a tiny bit whiter than Luks and cheaper. Good luck...

Cool blues won't give that ricey blue reflection in the housing. At night they give off a white light (not hyper white). And remember that with any bulb coating (blue or whatever) you will lose some light output. The light color will be whiter, but light output will be dimmer.

Cool Blue=regular white
MTEC and LUKs=more hyper white

The cool blues are good for cleared headlights if you're just running the stock turn and parking light bulbs. If you want hyper white signals, you'll have to get something more like norrinrad's setup to match.

Um moisture can still get into your lights from the bulb sockets that are just snap in. Doesn't matter how well you seal them together. Unless you seal around the sockets as well...

Maybe, but like Gearbox said you can still get moisture from the sockets in the back themselves. It's just that the housing seal is usually more problematic. Try sealing them to see if it goes away, if not then perhaps the rubber cover may have a rip or hole or even not attached fully (check that first before sealing). Hope this helps...

Well, from reading this very informative thread, and after doing my own research, it looks like for under $50, Luks and MTEC are the best bulbs to get. For over that amount, it looks like PIAA Super Plasma/GTs are the best bulb out there short of a true HID setup. As for moisture getting into the bulb/housing if your lights are stock and not cleared, as long as you properly seat the rubber cover that goes on the outside, I don't think you should have any problems. I changed bulbs on my 2001 and now my 2003, without doing anything to the housings, and I have never had any problems with fogging, burning out, fading, etc. in wet weather.

I just put in a set of PIAA's that came with some used headlights I bought off ebay and I don't think I'll ever use another kind of bulb again, unless I try out the MTec's and like them. But the PIAA's are freakin awesome, they are the hyper white, a.k.a. cool blue but they are bright as hell and look damn good.

Call them back quick and see if they can send you the 60watts instead. The 110watt will fry your wiring harness in a short time. Our headlight wiring harness can only handle about 80-90watts max I believe. Or you can just buy higher rated wiring harnesses off eBay for like $10 around. Most aftermarket bulbs are 60watts, but say 110 because they're brightness would mimic a 110w bulb, but Luks are indeed 110watt. Hope you have time to change your order, otherwise buy a better harness or sell them on eBay.
