93EX Engine Swap Questions...

Hey Team,

I'm still very new to the civic world. I've been looking through the forums but I'm in information overload!.
I have a 1993 Civic EX 2 door with the D16Z6 and an auto trans. I've been thinking about an engine swap (and may going to a stick) as the it's getting a little tired. What would be a good upgrade? I don't mind putting in some work but I don't want to go down the fabrication route regarding an upgrade.

Suggestions, and ease of swap?

Cheers
Paul

Re: 93EX Engine Swap Questions...

B16/B18 higher revs and less torque. B20 lower revs and more torque across the entire power-band. I have a '95 EX with a JDM B20 block and Integra LS non-vtec head so I am partial to this engine. The previous owner did all the swaps and did a good job of it. He said it was originally an automatic transmission and he converted it to an Acura Integra LS manual transmission. Some people prefer the Integra GSR manual transmission due to the shorter gearing ratio. He used motor mounts similar to these: https://innovativemounts.com/product...2-manual-hydro . You will need a compatible ECU for whichever B-series engine you decide on. Mine had a P75 ECU when I purchased the car which is designed to run a 1.8L engine but it had an idle issue (possibly due to the .2 liter difference) so I ordered a closer matched basemap ECU from Phearable. I had John (owner) at Phearable disable the o2 sensor within the ECU programming. I purchased that ECU a year ago and it's been running well since with steady idle around 750 rpm.
