burning oil
burning oil
I have a 94 civic ex with a built sohc engine with a t3/t4 57 trim turbo. Just the other day i noticed a small amount of blue smoke coming out of the exhaust pipes. The engine has 1800 mi on it right now. I was told chances are there is a bad seal in the turbo and its letting a little oil past it, since the motor is just been built. The car still runs great it just smokes a little. The car is also running rich right now because it wasnt broke in when I got it, it still needs to be retuned. what do you guys think?? If my turbo has a bad seal what can i do?? I picked this car up about 3 weeks ago and dont know too much about turbo cars. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.
Re: burning oil
Find a GOOD, REPUTABLE turbo repair shop and have the seals replaced or replace the turbo. Keep in mind, when I did my build, I had a pretty fair amount of smoke just due to ring gap being looser than stock...
Re: burning oil
thanks man, im new to this and it worried me quite a bit, its not a lot of smoke and you usually only notice it if its sitting there idleing and im watching the exhaust, its just a little bit. Anybody know of any turbo shops and or turbo tuning places in or around the Akron-Canton-Cleveland Ohio area?? If so please let me know. Thanks again.
