I have a 93 civic dx 1.5 5 speed that has been acting up for a few months now after a year of running perfectly. First thing to go wrong was my dizzy. I replaced that and no more problems. A couple months ago my car started dying at stops randomly. I noticed my car acting up and not wanting to start randomly before this happened. I found out my valve cover gasket was blown and i had oil on my spark plugs. After fixing that problem my alternator went out on me. Put in a new alternator and all seemed fine at first. Now sometimes when the vehicle is stopped it will want to die if i push on the gas quickly. It is also having a hard time starting but once it starts its fine. When i try to start it the car turns over and will sometimes start for a second then die and not start again for a few tries. I am going insane trying to figure this out. I checked for vacuum leaks and did not find any. Both the spark and fuel are good so??? maybe a timing issue? When I replaced the dizzy it was running a little ruff so i took it to a local mechanic and he said he could not fully retard the timing and i would need to have it redone next year. He said it was barley off and should be fine. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks for your time,
