ok lets begin.

today I pulled out my alternator when bought the car the belt was laying under it the guy who owned it before me had it towed to his garage/mechanic.


I took the alternator off and tried to spin the pully it was seized
I put it on the ground tapped it lightly with a small bar the housing.
I started turning the pully freely. as I turned it more and more it felt free
no its completely free and spinning like it should.

im just wondering if I should take my chances and reinstall it and hope for the best or if I should go and buy a used one off somebody else..


the coiling and the bushings or whatever theyre called look ok in the back


does anybody know if I should give her a go?

I hear that if the car is out of combustion for a certain amount of time that these things do seize up and people try and unseize them..


my case doesn't seem so severe since everything looks ok and spins freely.


sorry if I repeated myself I hope someone can understand and point me in the right direction. id rather type this out then waste an hour

Bolt it on and try it. If it works you saved like $100.


Or carry it in to DangerZoo and ask them to put it on their machine and test it for you before you bolt it back on.

If you don't want to waste an hour you probably should just replace it. It obviously had some sort of problem. May have run too hot and damaged the windings internally, so that's a chance you take if you put it back on.
