1995 civic ex wont start/odd problem

I was driving down the highway and I got off at an exit and was waiting at a light behind another car, all of a sudden the car shuts off and so do all the lights in the car. Lights will not turn on and the car wouldnt start, after about 3 minutes of my turning the key and getting nothing, I turn the key and the car turns on and is good, I get to my destination. I come back out and the car starts up and runs fine, I go to my friends house and it starts up and runs fine until I go to leave. The lights come on when I open my door, I go to start the car and you hear one click and the lights go out and wont turn on and the engine does not start or even turn over. It just clicks once and nothing. Lights stop working and engine wont start. Anyone have any idea what this could be?

Put a voltmeter leads directly on the battery posts (not the clamps, not the wires, I mean right on the posts themselves) while someone else turns on electric stuff. Measure.

If measured battery voltage goes away when loaded, the battery has an internal break and needs replaced. Be careful, batteries with this type of failure can explode. Not kidding. I have had it happen to me.

If there is good battery voltage measured on the posts themselves while nothing works, you have a connection problem.
Move meter leads to troubleshoot and determine location of open circuit.
