92 civic battery light on?
92 civic battery light on?
So I have a 92 civic which I recently drove from southern Washington to San Francisco, about a 10 hour drive. The car runs perfectly fine and had no problems on the way there. On the way back however, I was about two hours away from home when I noticed the battery light had come on.
I needed to stop for gas and it started up fine. I took it to a battery and alternator shop and they said the alternator was bad. Its been three days since I've been home, the battery still hasn't died, and the light goes off for a decent amount of time constantly.
Is the alternator actually bad or could it just be a connection problem?

Generally if your light is going on and off then the brushes inside the alternator are worn out. They cost about $20 and it's a fairly simple fix.

You could check the wires to the alternator, but the alternator is probably going. Many auto parts stores will test them for you, only catch is you have to remove the alternator.
