94 lx driving me nuts please help me !

i have a 94 lx an am having problems , the car at idle is loping like it has a big cam in it , an when driving will cut out an tach an speedo jump all over the place an also over heats , i have put brand new radiator in all new spark plugs cleaned idle valves , i had oil in the holes where the spark plugs are so pulled valve cover an put new valve cover gasket on an now no oil in them anymore an at times the car wont even start , can anyone give me any info as what else to check or what to do also the check engine light is on i tried to run the paper clip trick an got a pretty good spark at the connector when i tried to do it could this have caused this problem? an still have not been able to retrieve the code, please someone help me. thanks any info is helpful

did you jump the 2 wire connector (green one) . there is no way you should have gotten a spark. Also instead of paper clip , use a piece of wire instead.

the connector i used is a blue one under the glovebox
