tranny smell?

Im getting an occasional smell of tranny fluid in my vents when I come to a stop. Recently I saw some fluid around a cap on what I assume is the transmission. Its a small black cap just right of the are filter. Anyone know what the cap is too? Or why it'd be letting fluid up?

Yes auto, its minnesota so I didnt wanna mess with stick in winter
The little cap is inside a sort of triangle. That triangles points being the air filter, the radiator, and the dizzy. its just a tiny as black cap.
No idea what its too so i am more curious than anything what it is.
